The EE braggers thread!!!

awwwww thats cute maybe she is broody and wants to have babies
The last time she did this. she sat on them for about an hour then left the eggs and never went back. She roosted in the green house so i took the eggs that night after it was dark. She slept in the green house last night and when she gave her hiding spot up this morning the eggs i found were cold.

The eggs have hatched! Thought I'd share some pics of the chicks. I'm especially excited to see what the Faverolles/EE will turn into. Anyone have a mix like that with pics they'd be willing to share?

Blue Golden Duckwing EE X Buff-Wheaten EE. This chick is from an egg laid by a sweet hen who shortly thereafter was killed by a dog :( She reproduced from beyond the grave!

Thanks for sharing such beautiful pictures!!! They are all lovely, but this baby in particular make me melt.

Hope you show updates as they get older.

My first hen to lay an egg was a few weeks ago. She has since changed her nesting location every time she sees me get her eggs. Today i was washing off the patio and noticed a hen talking. i looked around and no hen nowhere to see. I heard it a cpl more times till i could locate where it was coming from. Notice the white boxes up on the top left of the cabinet and my roo on some temporary perches on the right of the door.

here is where she has been going the last 3 days i haven't been able to find her eggs. Crazy Girl.
Best laugh of the week!!!

Mmmmm.... bat guano.

Such determination!! Maybe you could try leaving a decoy egg or golf ball to fake her out.

i should do something like that. But maybe when she goes back to the coup. She actually used the coup the first few times .these ladies never had a coup the first 3 months of their life. All but a few are still scared to go into it. she has already left the guano box nest since my last post so she isn't serious about bein broody, it is 57 degrees outside right now so i don't think shes worried about them. But once her location is more favorable i might try some golf balls so she doesn't keep changing locations on me.

Wow, and right next to the bug exterminator stuff! How funny. So you found 3 eggs?

You all have some really pretty girls (and boys)! I've been keeping track of this thread for a while and love seeing how different each EE is. Finally got to posting. :)

I'm really taken by the hens with bluish/gray feathering though, either all or mixed. (Example would be in cheeka's avatar). I'm curious where you got your EE's? I got 10 this spring from MM, and while they're all different, they're not as variable as I've seen in here. I'm excited to see what color eggs they lay, however.

Here's a few pictures. :)

Very nice pictures. I have a little bantam cochin x EE pullet who has the peach coloring of your third pic (she was obtained from fellow byc'er). mine came from MM also, sold as Araucana... and clearly not... but I didn't order them, they were a way way way waylaid box of chicks that somehow got to the wrong state... and the fate of the birds was decided, but I could not let them expire so it was arranged for them to be rescued. there were 14 total EE's out of the 26 chicks, and I kept 3 pullets and 2 cockerels. only 2 of the 14 had the blue feathers and those are my Blu B'ree (avatar) and Isis who is more golden with a dark head. the rest of the order contained BR's and RIR's... I kept a pair of each and found homes for all the rest of the chicks, all are well and thriving (except for 2 of mine

fox got Barney, white EE cockerel, and Lily, partridge EE pullet)

I love the blue as well, and found a pair of gorgeous blue cockerels that I will use for breeding in Spring of 2013. The new boys came with the bantam, like a little family... they are her charming bodyguards.

And my others. Including my little EE Grimm.

Blu is difficult to photograph. In the sun, she reflects so much light, and in the shade, you don't see the in-between shades...out of some 20 pictures, I got these 2. AND she and the gang are 21 weeks old today!
