As far as the squat testing goes--Out of the 5 chickens, the one that is the REALLY good squatter is the one with the least developed wattles and comb and not as red.

My golden and Barred are finally squatting and have large red combs but no eggs.....Anytime I suppose...

She has been laying for a few days I guess because right after I posted the other day I found an egg. Today I went to the coop and saw her in a little nest she made on the floor, she got up and there was a lovely warm egg. I moved the shavings around and found 3 more hidden. Her first egg broke when it fell off the counter but in total she has laid 5 eggs...you go Big Bertha!

Jasmine's butt is HUGE (well, so is her front for that matter...) her comb is as red as can be, and growing every day. Her wattles are bigger than quarters now, and STILL no eggs...not so much as a squat, or even a peek into the nest box!

Did you all try the alfalfa hay? I put it out there. Don't know if it's helped but Snow White started laying good eggs three days later.
