the [egg] wait is driving me crazy!!!

I just got my hens laying after 2 months of nothing due to molt and light change.Seeing that one blue egg the past 2 days was like the first time they all started laying.It was great. Hope you all get some eggs soon!

It's been SOOOO long since I have had home grown eggs

My big girls are now....lets see, their hatch/ship date was May 31st...that makes them...7 months old...or 28 weeks

My 27 week leghorn has still not layed an egg

. Her sister, who lives at somebody elses house, layed her egg at 25 weeks, and compared to her, Sage looks nowhere near ready!!!!

Right now we're out of town...I miss going out to check for eggs 10 times a day. No I'm also turning to my 17 week old Black Stars...I wish I could see them to know ho

Kari Dawn are you still waiting? I finally got an egg yesterday from another one of my new pullets. The 20 week old EE laid a beautiful pullet size green egg. I'm hoping to get another one today

My 24 week old White Leghorn, Snow White, has been consistently laying nice size white eggs for the past 20 days. She started on Thanksgiving Day and then took about a week to adjust all the while producing softshell eggs.

Some of the things I did to "help" them along, although I don't know how helpful they were:
- added oyster shell & offered Layer feed to the pre laying pullets
- added lighting to the coop - on/off 5:30am/7:30am 4:30pm/7:30pm for 14 hours of continuous light
- tossed fresh Alfalfa hay down on the ground for them to munch
- offered roasted sunflower seeds with generous sprinkling of black and red peppers

Like I said I don't know if those things helped or if it was a coincidence - at least it made me feel like the time passed by faster

yep, still waiting

They have free choice oyster shell, free choice grit, and recieve free range time regularly. They are not on layer feed because of my younger birds in the flock. I am giving them black oil sunflower seeds, and other high energy food to help them prepare for the coming cold though.

For whatever reason, reguardless of type of feed or brand, my birds always seem to be late layers...this time, REALLY late layers

My girls are 21 weeks....still no eggs!

On this thread people keep saying that they don't see any "signs" of their hens laying eggs, so my question what are the signs that show hens might be thinking about laying eggs? I need to know if eggs are in my future!!

Three of my five have just this past week laid their first eggs

They are all about 25 weeks. You can't rush mother nature no matter how much you would like to

The eggs will come when they are ready; fix yourself a drink and enjoy the show until then. That's what I did and it finally worked.
