I don't have any questions or problems. I just want to vent my excitement.
My 9 birds that came in the mail back in June are finally starting to lay. Last Monday, my kids checked on the hens after they got ready for school in the morning and came back worried that one was covered in blood. I went out to check on her and found a fresh warm egg in the nest box. She had somehow lost about a quarter of her comb. I'm guessing she got excited during her first lay and hurt herself on the edge of the nest box. One week later, she's all healed up and has laid 6 of the last 7 days. Awesome.
It's been a long week rationing the daily egg between all my kids. An hour or so after collecting our daily egg today, I went out to the garage for a tool and the hens were going batscat crazy out in the coop. I went out to check on them...booyah...fresh warm egg...someone else is laying. Egg #2.
When the wife returned from picking the kids up from school, she checked the girls once more. This time, a larger, darker egg. TWO GIRLS JOINED THE TEAM TODAY!!
I'm so super pumped. Almost 6 months of waiting are finally starting to bear fruit. This is great!!
Submitted for your approval: Eggs #2 and #3 today with a "LARGE GRADE A" for comparison.
