so of my three girls only one is laying. Same color, one egg almost every day. She becan laying about three weeks ago. I've gotten 4 double yokes in that time and from what I read that's supposed to be rare. Someone better tell her that.

Anyway, how do you tell if an egg is fertile when it's first laid? I'm not planning on hatching, I was just curious.

Also, anyone know if Cayuga's have a specific time period for laying or is it all year? I had someone tell me I will be overloaded with eggs in the spring and am curious if that's true.
 
hi, you will only know if an egg is fertile after atleast 7 days of incubating, alfo the peak time that duck eggs be most fertile is the spring.
