In the Brooder
yesterday i said that i had hoped for some pips this morning. well, all that hoping did something! at 8am this morning, i woke up to 2 pips- one in the egg i had been suspicious of from the start, and a light blue egg.
later that day, another pipped! 3 pips in one day, on exactly day 21. i wasnt expecting it! i spent my whole day next to the incubator, doing my own thing, looking up when i heard chirping-
and, at 7pm today, the olive egg hatched! a dark little easter egger chick popped out after i saw its beak 20 minutes before. clearly, someone was just as impatient to get out as i was ready to see them!
after the first wobbly steps, the chick promptly ran into each and every one of its siblings. including the one that was halfway done hatching! after 15 minutes or so, it helped the chick break out of its shell-- and is very clearly the boss already.
now its 11pm. 2 of the eggs still havent pipped, and the one that had hasnt really done much other than wiggle, which is a bit concerning, I'll admit, but it also had pipped later than the other two.
the two hatched babies are doing great, fluffing up and making quite a fuss. especially the one that hatched from the olive egg, which I've called Mori, for now!
I'll post pictures whenever I can transfer them to the brooder!! as of right now I dont want to risk anything with that pipped egg.
