Imagine the nerve it takes for the mother of 7yo twin girls in my class to say it's okay for her daughters to tell me I'm wrong and that they don't have to listen to me, and in the same conversation, complain her daughters aren't progressing in my class. Now I see where these manipulative little psychopaths got their attitude.
 
Oh, ok. Yeah, private schools over there are sometimes an alternative when the kids are problematic, and won't conform to regular schools. Because they pay well for the private education, the school directors are very hesitant to upset the parents, for fear of losing money.
 
No, it's not an alternative school for problem children. It's what they call a hagwon. Hagwon means a for-profit private educational institute. So, essentially, hagwons are private language centers/academies that operate like businesses and apart from the South Korean public school system.
