I know, they are amazing sometimes, given rest and good nutrition. She isn't eating much and every time she gets up to go to the front or back to the corner, she pants like it takes so much effort and really hurts. She is drinking, though, and does pick at her feed. She quit laying when she got hurt.

I really hope Mary pulls through. What great news about Athena and Zara both laying. What would you rather hatch first, barred rocks or brahmas?
I really don't need either at the moment, but since my Brahma pullet is acting like she's trying to go broody already, I may end up giving her a few of each. Jill's eggs are small still. I am positive that Apollo's group is fertile. The Brahmas have not been with the boys much since Bailey's injury, but Andrew is coming to take Bruno to put over his partridge hens so I can put Bash back with the Brahma girls and they should be all fertile soon. Bailey seems completely healed now. Their eggs are larger than the Rocks' eggs.

Well Cyn I hope no news is good news - been a crazy day up here, and looking like it will continue that way.

She's pretty much the same, though she's eating less today. I'm waiting for Andrew to come pick up Bruno. Very windy and chilly.

ETA: Andrew just left with Bruno. So, we sort of have a little partnership going. He gets nice birds and I can get eggs whenever I need them and I know the birds are well-cared for, win-win. So far, he's gotten Mille Fleur D'Anvers, BR hatching eggs from my Stukel line, BR chicks from Hector's line and now, a breeding Partridge Brahma rooster to improve his.

Mary perked up when I took some chopped tomato out to her. She loves tomato and greens. Guess I should pick up a bunch of kale or something for her. She won't stand, just squat walks two steps to the front to drink and squat walks to the back again. But, that type injury can take awhile if it's going to heal.

Update: Mary is the same today. She isn't really eating, just sleeping and going up for water occasionally.

I uploaded a video yesterday called "Quilts, Chickens & Your Cash Stash" (all in one, lol) and am doing one now. The one I'm getting up now is "Flock Decisions Based on Head, Not Heart: Letting a Rooster Go". I wish I had a better way to film these. May have to work on that if I want to continue them. I'm not sure folks want to hear my southern twang, though. I lost 2 subscribers, probably because they are not interested in chickens or quilts, but thought I'd be one of the prepper folks and that's all I'd be. But, that would be no fun, only thinking about doom and gloom, though I certainly want folks not to stick their heads in the sand.

Bash is back with the five pullets so that paved the way to rearrange some stuff in the barn. Xander's group was moved in with June, Georgie, Neela and Alice. Apollo, Athena and Zara were moved into Xander's place. And the Belgian D'Anvers were moved back into where Apollo was living between the Old Hens and Hector.

Subscribers to what?

. I know, I'm clueless.

Well. I think it is a lovely southern accent and not"twangy" at all.

My YouTube channel where I upload these videos, Mary. And thank you about the accent. I'm not about subscribers, really, but I was trying to figure why I just got up to a certain number, then suddenly lost two, but I think it's because my recent videos have been more about chickens than prepping for bad times. Or maybe it's my crappy camera, who knows? But maybe someone can get something from them.
