(the real hurdle would be to convince mom but she loves fat chickens)

As do many of us here, LOL. My blue Orpington rooster, Suede, was 14 lbs. Not sure how much Bash weighs, but he's a Brahma rooster approaching full maturity in June (2 yrs old then). Yup, we love the big-uns! Maybe your mom will love those pretty Orps.

Wow! 14 lbs! My largest Jersey Giant was a little more than that, I think 15 lbs? Still heavy for a chicken!

My mom can be picky about what's bred here on the farm. Mom usually goes for approved breeds/varieties of stock and poultry, so they can be shown, bred, and sold. I'm sure though with a little nudge, I can get Momma to approve them.

I don't think Columbian Orps are something that can be shown in an APA show, but I'm out of the loop, would have to check that. The accepted colors have always been black, blue, buff and white. My partridge and blue partridge Brahmas are not showable in APA-sanctioned shows because they're import colors not yet in the Standard of Perfection here. Some are trying to get them approved and that hinges on them being spread more widely.

I find it interesting that the Columbian Orps have barred hackles/tail like a Delaware, not like a Columbian Rock or a Light Brahma, where hackles and tail feathers are solid black, not barred. They'd be something not just everyone has, that's for sure.

ETA: And Aimee is still on the nest tonight so she's broody. I dumped one of my blue partridge Brahmas off the nest. She had managed to get herself two eggs and was going to sit all night on them. Bonnie is bad for going broody all the time, same with Brandy.

They look like DelaOrps! Big round beauties. You immediately know they aren't just chunky Delawares because of the white skin. How many of these do you have?
Just three. I bought the eggs at an auction from papas poultry they were his project. Let me find the picture of his birds. They are not on his website.
