Anyway back to chickens.

My little hen is still being bullied, and puts herself to bed each night on the outside perch. Which would be fine except it's like 1 degree most nights, and she's still very thin.
Every night I go out after dark, pick her up and carry her inside, and put her next to Freckles my big sweet SS hen. Wish spring would come.

Yes, back to other stuff that frustrates us, LOL! I wish spring was here, too, but you know, it's like the seasons shifted. That's Tom's theory, anyway. And this year, January was like February and February is like late March. It's raining cats and dogs, but it's 62* in the barn, no residual heat from any heat lamps in there. I even turned off the reptile bulbs over Snow and Amanda's condos.

You know, MaryJo is also being bullied by both Lizzie and Tessa still. She had been in a nest for awhile and just for no apparent reason, Tessa got up there and was pounding her in the head. I threw Tessa down and took MaryJo into the pen with June and Georgie. There, only Wendy is a semi-bully, but the nests are less conducive to bullies being able to hurt someone.

The govt. benefits financially from any, and all medications. Right from the get-go, they sell the licenses to manufacture, and/or distribute any, and all medications in the US. Then they are paid to inspect facilities, and test for uniformity, etc., on all medications.

The one thing that irks me is that the FDA does not do any independent testing prior to the release of a drug. It's up to the manufacturer to provide the information, which is not always accurate. Once submitted, the FDA should do their own testing, to confirm what was submitted. By the time the FDA figures out the reports have been skewed, it's too little, too late.

Most of the information about all the vaccines containing toxic mercury are bogus, and have long ago been debunked. The additive to prevent cross contamination, which is what is being called mercury, and is the additive complained about, is only added to vials that are used for multiple doses. It's NOT in the single dose vials. Single dose vials don't have, nor do they need to have the additive to prevent contamination, since they are only used once. This year's flu shot is available in single dose vials, but you have to ask for it.

I didn't post that to try to start anything, but for those that find themselves in the position that they need a vaccination, it's nice to know that requesting a single vial dose is a better option.

Thank you for that information, I was not aware of it. See, they do not tell you this stuff, Cheryl. Finding information is like pulling teeth and I feel that what we think we know is not necessarily true, yea or nay. I'm tired of the guesswork and gambling, hoping things we do to help are not actually harmful in the end. It's very frustrating. I'd rather just stay away from all of it and try my best to boost my immune system. I think that's a necessity for anyone, to prop up your immune system just because of all the poisons in our food, air, water, etc, etc, etc...., stuff we can't even pretend we can avoid, beyond our control. So, that's pretty much the end of my say on all that. I didn't want to really rant, but I just hate never being able to know the truth because of someone lining their pockets, is all. And I think it is my own decision to get a shot or not get a shot, not the gov't telling me that I have to do it or a doctor thinking he is my god and I must do what he says, like the last one I had and dumped.

Adding that I am not telling anyone what to do about their health, as far as medications, not my place. I'm just explaining why I do and don't do what I do and why I am often frustrated and irritated with our entire medical system today. Everyone needs to do what they feel is best for their own health. Same with chickens. Just don't let me catch folks abusing animals or people! That I will jump into.

I have an ee that has always been a lightweight bird. She is the one that always roosts by herself isolated and I worry about her too.

The meaty Buckeyes always plaster themselves against each other. Smart birds, but you'd think with the weight, compared to the ee, that they wouldn't feel the need. They did that since they were little kiddos and are the only ones I have that bunch together.

Even my old BR separates herself and roosts alone.

Yes, ferreting out the truth about some things can be tedious, and very difficult to find a full disclosure of information. Sometimes it's even harder to find current information. Example: The original Salk polio vaccine was primitive, was much more dangerous, and a lot less effective for the majority of patients. It has been tweaked many times since they first came out with it, making it a lot less dangerous for most people, and more effective for the majority of people. No medication is totally without risks to some. Heck, while the majority of the population only suffer the initial sting from a bee, then they are fine, there are some that are so allergic, they can die from a simple bee sting. There are those that can die from peanuts, and anything made from them, yet the majority of people enjoy peanuts without any adverse effects. Why would a medication be any different?

I agree the best, first line of defense is a healthy immune system. I still believe that, unless there is a family history of an adverse reaction, or a known allergy, children should be vaccinated with tried, and true vaccines for all the older diseases. No since in wiping out a major section of the population with a deadly disease, because someone is afraid to vaccinate their child.

Moving on.....Remember when I said I started growing my own organic mealworms? Well, I have a bin now, with enough that my chickens got a wonderful treat yesterday, and I still have plenty for the next few days. In the meantime, I've started more bins of them, so I have another one that will be ready in a few more days. I will eventually be able to treat them with some mealworms on a more steady basis.

I would agree with that, certainly. If I had kids today, I would probably allow the older, tried and true vaccines for measles, mumps and rubella and whatever went with those older ones we and our sons took, but I would definitely balk at the new ones for my child. That said, mine would also not be attending public school, either! Thankfully, I have no grandchildren to worry about, but I do have grandnieces and grandnephews that I fear will grow up in a worse world than I did in many ways. If I was the age of my nieces and nephews now, I would absolutely hold fast to having no children of my own.

And MEALWORMS! My chickens love them, or most do. Some look at me like, "You want me to really eat that??"
