The Evolution of Atlas: A Breeding (and Chat) Thread

Aw that’s cute :)

My Mother-in-law bought me a present for my kitchen and I love it. I’m going to write “Eat it or starve” on the chalkboard because that’s my kitchen motto lol.

I'll take one of each. Your girl is adorable.

Thanks! I think she got it at Hobby Lobby.

That place has millions of gorgeous things. Wish one was closer.

I am almost on the last side of the Sunny Stars quilt, about to get that binding finished today. And I got some really super quality flannel that looks like the sky for my Blue Yonder twin quilt that I was commissioned to do by the lady who bought the small version.

Today is Day 18 for the incubator eggs. 16 Brahmas and 6 BRs are humming along. Had to remove 5 Brahmas on Day 17 candling. I'm not sure why B.J.'s two and I think maybe Bailey's three were not fertile, or rather, four of those did not appear fertile and one quit very early on. I thought I candled them all as growing at just over a week, but maybe my flashlight was not as bright as it should have been at that point. If you recall, Tom, the breeder, sent me 10 of Darks and 11 Partridge, or maybe that was reversed, can't remember. Only one Dark hatched, B.J., though most all developed to some stage. Almost every partridge hatched, so something was going on in his Dark pen or they didn't travel well, not sure what. So, it makes me wonder if B.J. and Bash may have issues breeding, though these are definitely not shipped eggs. He breeds B.J. all the time as she is the head hen in there.

Oh, you gotta be kidding! Maretta, who has raised 4 batches of chicks in her 7 years, including the one she just got done with, is clucking again already! I said that would probably be her last batch and she just has to make me a liar! Brandy is on Day 7 tomorrow with hers, her sister, Bonnie, is trying to go over the edge, too, and I surely don't need more chicks!

I have broody envy.

Oh, be careful what you wish for....too many at one time and you go NUTS! You need a nursery pen and hope they get along in one big space, but mine never do.

This may be my new shirt:
