The Evolution of Atlas: A Breeding (and Chat) Thread

Maybe if you crow at him, he will answer back, and you can record it. Come on Atlas, one for the gipper.
I'll try that, but today, they are stuck inside so might have to wait a day or two. Maybe he'll oblige.

I think his tail is better already. And love the pullet come-hither look.
Thanks, I'm very pleased with his tail, how full it is and the angle of it. Indy was wonderful in many ways, but his tail angle was way too high. Atlas has him beat in that regard, as well as having a better comb than either his sire or his Uncle Indy did. I think his barring is better than Indy's, too. Indy had good barring, but had a solid black tail feather. So far, I don't see that in Atlas. He's more genetically Rock, though, than Indy was.

Atlas did his first truly roosterly thing today-he warned the girls of danger in no uncertain terms. He went off loudly while looking at the log pile, then back at the root ball of an overturned oak tree where we burn trash, back and forth and carrying on like he'd seen Bigfoot, neck craned out toward each pile, first looking at one then the other. I was close by, went over, didn't see anything (could have been a lizard or a mouse, who knows?), and praised him over and over. Then when I said, "C'mon, Atlas, let's get out of here!", he hesitated at first, then followed me back up the hill, talking the whole time in a more mature voice I'd never heard before, hackles flared, and met up with Ro and Rachel and ran off with them. He's been crowing more and more, if you can call it that. It's deep but mostly just one syllable so far, LOL.

My big boy today, just before 18 weeks:

Well, I tried the day BYC went all glitchy last week, then my system was hit by lightning and we lost several devices. Finally, I get a modem and router and BYC is still so bad I cannot upload any photos at all, not even a sad face smiley. Geez. Atlas's photos will be back if BYC ever gets straightened out!

Had to switch to IE on DH's laptop. He can't have the new versions of FF which interfere with one of his main programs he uses and seems that BYC hated the old FF version so until my computer is back from the shop, this will have to do. I don't have last week's pics of Atlas, but here are some taken over the last couple of days, so I guess these are his 20 week pictures. Still very sweet and seems quite intelligent.

This is Rachel.

And the newest BR kid on the block, just a few days old:
