The Evolution of Atlas: A Breeding (and Chat) Thread

I just came across the thread where you were out of commission after you broke your ankle. Good grief, girl! You really did a number on yourself - you have to be careful with that ankle! You don't want to re-injure that again!

I have nightmares about breaking something else, mainly because I have osteopenia from years of being on synthroid. I lift weights and try to keep active (try? I can't stop!) but if I break the other one, it may be the end for living on this property. I am not someone who likes to talk about her ailments and usually, I fall and just get up and keep going. Most of the time, it's just a scratch or a sore whatever but I dont even have a left kneecap right now-looks like a giant blue, yellow and green blob. Thankfully, I did not twist it, only smacked it good. Must have jammed my right arm when I hit the elbow because it feels like I've been lifting heavy weights for days, really sore. I'll live, I'm sure. I want my DH to be careful because he is 40% disabled with back and knee injuries already. He can't break anything and neither can I!

Be kind to yourself, you two!

I fell on my kneecap a few years ago and badly bruised the back of it when the end of the femur crashed into it - one of my more painful injuries, and it took over 3 months to heal. It did not help that I fell and whacked it again 2 week after the initial injury.

I think what is needed is some taut cable stretched across the property. Then hook our personal harness to it and go about our day. The cable is the perfect height to keep us upright. If we stumble, we don't hit the ground. Well at least till I think of something better - it sounds halfway okay to me

Owie, the back of mine was sore, too. You sound like me, injuring the injuries, LOL.

Like a dog on a zipline, eh? Not a bad idea, actually, but me? I'd probably end up hanging myself somehow!

I'm off to bed. Found out more family than I thought is coming up to the house on Saturday and have to make extra desserts. My son in South Korea got another job in the Gangnam area (yes, the song "Gangnam Style" is about that overly expensive area) and he can stay-his visa is tied to his work there. He wants to stay until he can get a regular one so he doesn't have to leave the country if he doesn't have an immediate job. Love him but he'd end up in my basement and Ladyhawk says that bedroom down there is hers.

I've been on synthroid for years also! 37 to be exact - since my son was born. Pregnancy was not good for my thyroid. I had radioactive treatment for hyperthyroidism after my daughter was born, then it totally stopped working after my son was born. I also have osteopenia. I think the only thing saving me is there is nothing delicate about me - I have big bones, My exercising has been very curtailed ever since my knee gave out last Thanksgiving. The doctor says arthritis but I'm convinced it's the after effects of Lyme Disease. Working in my garden and my poultry is my life - got to keep going and be much more careful about falling over!! You and Tom be careful too!

You be careful, too! Funny coincidence-Ladyhawk had radioactive treatment for her hyperthyroidism just like you did. She was down to less than 80 lbs the first time I met her. All of us need to be careful, apparently!
