Had to put my piano back on the market. The high school decided not to take it due to the 'logistics' of getting it. What?? They move the entire marching band from place to place. All they need is a couple guys with a truck and ramp and straps to secure it, drive a few streets over from the school and they get a $2500 fine instrument for free. Good grief, shaking my head over that one. So, I have finally gone the Craigslist route -pray for me, lol.

I just lost one of my old Barred Rocks this AM - she's been failing for awhile and I had been letting her out of sick bay with me when I was out around the yard and she got some special treats the last few days. I knew the end was near but it's always such a downer to lose one. She was at least 6, maybe more. I didn't write down when I rescued that bunch - usually I write down in my chicken journal all new arrivals and departures of any sort. I love Barred Rocks.

So sorry to hear about your hen. I baby them when I know their end is close, too. They deserve to be as stress-free as possible and to feel as loved as possible at that time. I love my BRs, too. They are so sweet. Lizzie is a bit of a spazz, but that comes from being raised with the old ladies and bantams, I think, though Tessa is not like that. Maybe we've put more energy into giving her attention.

The three D'Anver males are being pretty mean to Tessa. I just saw them try to breed one of the older D'Anver hens and they're only 11 weeks old so they're quite full of themselves. Tessa gets bullied a lot but she's in the pen next to Deacon's so getting used to seeing him around, which might help with her transition when she's older.

I really don't like the "combining the groups" process! I hate it when the old ones are mean to the newbies. That's why I have so many pens - just seems easier to make another one than to deal with the fighting.

Remember in post # 1888 I mentioned that I donated a little quilt to someone who is making Burden Bears? She sent me a photo of the bear she made with my quilt today! Isn't he adorable?
