The Evolution of Atlas: A Breeding (and Chat) Thread

Beautiful work, Cyn! I just LOVE your fall quilt, too. Fall is my favorite time of year. Ah the colors!! I know you will be enjoying that one for years to come.

I took puppetry over quilting in college. Probably should have taken quilting though… a lot of good puppet making is for me now!! I hope to take a class on it some time, though.

We have a handmade quilt on our bed. It is an oversize queen. We had it made about 10 years ago. Two sisters, both in their 80's, pieced the quilt. It then travelled over 3 hours to their other sister who did the actual quilting on it. It is nothing fancy, squares at an angle so they are diamond shaped. Simple patches. I'll take a pic and share it some time. There are some areas that need mending, but we just love this quilt. The quilting is the simple loop one way, loop the other kinda zig zag. I love how you quilt yours!

Thanks, it felt great to finish it and put it on the bed, that's for sure!

Okay, @uphilljill and @1muttsfan I've been trying to get photos of Hector's stance so you can assess his topline for me. It's not easy with his "head-down-stalker-mode" he's usually in. Though it may still be early (waiting on Hector's tail, ack), my question is should I put Hector or Apollo with Mary and Jill (Thea is not going to be a breeder, but she will be a layer).
Hector is 20 weeks, Apollo is 29 weeks.

Seem that when his head is really up, his back is sloped down.

And the last photo of Apollo, who admittedly is further along in his development, but I think the top-line is what it will always be. He has a long back, which makes me happy, an improvement over Atlas's short back.

It is hard for me to say much based on photos. And he sounds like a difficult subject. Maybe a short video when he isn't stalking? He is so immature right now, and the parts could all come together better he fills out.

You may have read this already, but if you page down you will come to to Dick Horstmans comment on tails

Challenging, that task, finding Hector not stalking. DH was making fun of Hector this a.m., who was walking with his head down, just grumbling and grumbling under his breath. I have no idea what Hector was complaining about, but I'd love to get that on video.

If you scroll down in these pictures there is a rooster from Georgia, familiar at all?

Nope, never seen that one before.

ETA: I did what you suggested and videotaped Hector just walking around. There are three clips and you see the girls and also, Apollo. I think, definitely in one of them, that I got his natural stance pretty well. And you can hear him grumbling, too, LOL. Uploading to YouTube now, no telling how long that will take.

Here is one that is finished uploading, though it may not have the "shaky" fixed yet.

Love the photo bomb in the first video! Hector may not have his full tail yet, but he does have a great face/comb/profile. Can't wait to see him full grown.

That Thea is the sweetest little girl, always loves attention. She just had to steal some of Hector's thunder, LOL.

He is a handsome guy, I think, thanks. And he's been more chill lately. He doesn't seem to have any "mean" in his eyes so maybe he's on his way to a more reliable temperament (I hope). Have not seen him actually mate any of the girls yet, though his own don't really seem ready yet. He is always around Athena and Zara, too, so one of them may be the recipient of his first "love voyage".
