The Evolution of Atlas: A Breeding (and Chat) Thread

Each coop has it's own fan.

It seemed like it took forever, but I finally got my chickens home, and in their new coop. They seem content in it. Now, I can focus on hatching chicks!
Getaclue, I'm so impressed with this magnificent structure! It's so wonderful to have it all built exactly the way you want it before the chickens arrive! And so nice to be able to sit and watch your chickens enjoying the fruits of your labor!

Still handsome guys but they couldn't help it - they have 2 good looking parents.

You're very kind, thank you. Michael looks like me and my biological father. Chris, well, Chris looks more like the other side of the family, I think.

Chris as a little curly headed monster. He has Tom's mother's kinky-curly hair.

It was also my beloved Aunt Ethel's birthday. I need to name a hen "Ethel", though my aunt hated her name. Her name was Maggie Ethel. Not sure which she hated more, the first or the middle name! She got the best one of the entire group of siblings, too!

Cynthia, I just caught up again from last time I was on here. I don't think I'll be caught up in school work anymore for a while. I can't believe I missed the launch of Hectors own thread!!!! He's looking good from the pictures you posted! I'll be reading his thread as soon as I'm done typing this. Piglet seems like a joy to be around. It's so terrible how he's a dwarf. He other chick you posted about his head being different, IMO, maybe a little bit but his beak seems normal. Does he have the same growth rate as his non-dwarf brother?

Also a question: if I were to put lime down on my run to help take the smell away, (it's REALLY bad because of all the rain), will it harm the chickens at all?

Should be Ag lime, not hydrated lime. That would be fine.

The other cockerel is larger than the dwarf, but smaller than the older brother, hard to judge if it's too small or not.

My first coop got muddy during rainy season, before we had a load of sand hauled in. I would get Dawn Blue Dish Liquid, and mix it about like dishwater, and spray it lightly on the ground, then I would generously sprinkle Basil around. I got the big containers of Basil at Sam's, or Costco. Fresh works too, if you have an herb garden. The Basil leaves the coop and run smelling sweet, helps prevent fungi, and the chickens can eat some of it too. It would stay fresh smelling for almost a week, then I would add more Basil.
