The Evolution of Atlas: A Breeding (and Chat) Thread

I absolutely love the quilts you make. I've tried my hand at quilting before and was able to make a few very simple block quilts for friends. I really should look into learning how to do more complicated quilting because I enjoy it. I had to teach myself how to sew and use the sewing machine because unfortunately the one grandmother I had who knew how to do those things herself lived 16 hours away from me, and has since passed. I miss her a lot, and wish I still had her, because I find now that I'd like to learn things like canning and sewing, and she would have been the perfect person to learn from. I miss her and all my other grandparents.

We are plunging into the negative teens here too. I have to bring the rabbits into the garage tonight because they all live alone, and can't deal with it being this cold alone without the body heat of another rabbit.

I'd put them together but I really don't need baby rabbits in January

The folks who know the art are dying out. And some who can machine quilt have no idea how to or talent for hand quilting, which is my forte. Shame, really, that it's all made in China and crappy stuff that will fall apart at the first or second washing.

I have a Tiny story. She pulled another stunt today and I had to stop my husband from snapping her neck-her literally had her in his hands and was about to twist.

He bent over to do something, maybe scoop something off the floor; Tiny was on the roost, flared up and began pecking him in the head, hard. He grabbed her by the throat, I heard the commotion, saw her about a whisper away from death at his hands, and I said not to do it, that he'd feel guilty if he did, even though she deserved it. She is not at all like that with me, but it's hard to be nice to her when she's such a WITCH!

So, he tossed her on the floor and Gypsy and Panda lit into her, pounding her into a corner and both going at her at the same time! GO, PANDA! Go, GYPSY! They go nuts when she attacks Tom. Gyspy even jumped at her on the roost from below and knocked her off so she could pound her some more. Those two half sisters will go after Tiny on command, too, but they usually take it on themselves to teach her a lesson (one she never learns). What good girls my Gypsy and Panda are! I'm afraid that crazy wench, Tiny, will outlive them all.

Went to look at some couches and stopped at Arby's. Outside in the parking lot was a beautiful Leghorn rooster, just milling around, picking stuff up, on idea where he came from, maybe up on the hill behind the restaurant.

My rabbits are doing okay. They look warmer than my chickens, and don't seem to notice it's cold. I definitely don't need any more rabbits either.

This is the cat cave I made and donated for the auction, plus some of the other cat beds I made and donated. Finn likes them but he's overgrown the ones I made a couple of years ago for him . If I made one for Finn, it would have to be larger. He's gotten to be a big kitty over the past three years. A good use for small yarn scraps.

Can you machine wash those cat caves?

Yes, you can, though it would have to be separately and probably on delicate. The mouth of the cave is crocheted around a small plastic hoop.

@h2oratt wish you have some hens for the big guy! The Barred Hollands tend to be smaller bodied than the BRs, more U-shaped backs, I understand. I don't know about Sandhill's egg color-some have said they are not the white they should be, but of course, until you have hens, it's a moot point. Hopefully, he's a good boy!
