The Evolution of Atlas: A Breeding (and Chat) Thread

Don't you wish you could sleep like a cat (or a toddler)? Completely oblivious!

Yes, you can, though it would have to be separately and probably on delicate. The mouth of the cave is crocheted around a small plastic hoop.

@h2oratt wish you have some hens for the big guy! The Barred Hollands tend to be smaller bodied than the BRs, more U-shaped backs, I understand. I don't know about Sandhill's egg color-some have said they are not the white they should be, but of course, until you have hens, it's a moot point. Hopefully, he's a good boy!
So far he is good. He is in with the head roo, a choc orp. It’s funny how the smaller Roos do not want to take the orps. The orps look so big with all those feathers the younger Roos don’t take them on.

I love the cat cave also. You are very talented.

Sounds like a good one so far.

Thanks, I've been crocheting about 3 years or so, maybe 1/10 as long as I've been quilting. It's weird because, other than a cowl on cold days to keep my neck warm, I don't really wear many accessories like that. I have shawls that I wrap up in when I'm home and it's chilly in the house, but usually, that's about it so most of my crochet is for other people. I think it helps my hands, the movement of it.

Just bought a new couch, had to rush home to rearrange the LR for it. When we had the fire, we replaced a reclining loveseat with a regular loveseat and it is a good one even 5 years later, but it is just not great to stretch out on so we got a full size couch with each end that reclines in a very soft, plush fabric that my husband likes. Though it's a gray, not a beige/brown, I think with the right pillows, it will be fine. They had reduced it from $975 to $750 so decent deal. Hope it lasts. There were others I liked, but were too pricey or the material would be too susceptible to kitty claw damage. Finn is not a furniture-destroyer, but on occasion, he will stretch and hook his claws into the fabric on the couch. A soft vinyl type might show damage too easily. Waiting for them to deliver it this afternoon. Same local company that we got our new appliances and the loveseat from, post-fire replacement.
I went to the manufacturer's site and I think this is it. They called and said it would be first thing tomorrow, that something happened and they got swamped. It's deep and soft and cushy and my husband really liked it, plus the price was right for what it was.

Oh...almost forgot. Was shopping for an EO, and looked at their featured items on the site yesterday. I saw a game called "Wildcraft Board Game" marked down a little bit so I also bought it. https://www.mountainroseherbs.com/products/wildcraft-board-game/profile

I had never heard of this one before but it looks like a good one for learning a thing or 2 :)

Now I can have 3 year olds and up appear at my house and I'll have something we can do.

(But I told my hubby that he and I are going to play it as soon as it comes in. I told him it was because we had to learn how to play.... but I really just want to play it.)

Your couch looks suspiciously just like ours. Ours was around 750 too.

Been hovering around the "0 F." mark around here give or take a few degrees. I just can hardly stand the idea of the birds being out in that overnight even if they are in the barn. I keep trying to figure out a somewhat safe way to give them a little rise in temps in their sleeping area but I really don't like using heat lamps. The one I'm using for the water is outside the pen which feels a little safer than one in the pen.

They have a sleeping coop that would retain a little heat in their area if I could figure out a good way to accomplish it. I'm talking maybe 8-10 degrees warmer in their area.

This is what it looks like - but before they moved in there while we were working on it. There is a thin layer of styrofoam laying on top of the roost box.

Here is it with a few occupants.

We are much colder, my birds are doing okay. A few look a bit cold, but they will be fine. It can be hard not to worry. I see some nice healthy looking combs on your birds. Nice box, you will have to share how it goes.

That looks fun. I would like to learn more about medicinal herbs.
