We haven't had a garage here, no. I'd love to have a carport, but we're used to our cars being out in the weather.

That's a lot of wood inside. What kind of maintenance is there with that? I like my colorful painted rooms. I need my kitchen purple, and my bedroom blue, and my upstairs orange,,,,

Letting them have it is what I want to avoid. From what I'm seeing around here, my place should be worth around 200K. They value the steel barn on the tax record at 12K, which in crazy since we paid 6K for them to set it up and did the interior work for less than 2K. Then, there is the extra pasture lot that the county don't take into account as being part of the property since we bought it separately and pay taxes on it separately.

I have been looking at this adorable little cabin for a long time. It needs a 2nd bath, but the setting, I love, unless the pictures are very misleading. It had almost 5 acres and now, they are offering it with just 2 acres. The front is at ground level, the back has a dock on a wide creek/stocked lake and a screened porch. I could deal with this setting! So cute. But, storage is not great, not sure where I'd store food. An addition might be in order and since it's been on the market for so darn long, maybe could get it for less. The original price with 4.97 acres was $162, then reduced to $159, then with 2 acres, still at $149, which seems high for taking away 3 acres of it. I have not driven by it, though, so it may have bad stuff around it that is an eyesore.

I love this one's location, but it's all wood again. You must like that style? My husband loves wood inside too for that cabin feeling.

I like that I won't have to paint anything. Tom loves wood. He thinks it's sacrilege to paint beautiful wood. Me, I hate to paint, generally.

While you don't paint them, log cabins have to be sealed on a fairly regular basis.

There is a waxy sealer you spray on the outside of them.

True log homes do, yes, but most are not actually log homes anymore. They are log siding, usually half logs or D-logs. And the outside is what you have to stain/seal, generally. The inside is not exposed to the weather so after the first sealing, there would be nothing more than dusting. If the walls are flat and not rounded, they don't hold onto as much dust. Any house other than the nasty vinyl sided ones has exterior maintenance. And even the vinyl has to be pressure washed to get rid of the green mildew and dirt. I'm not a big fan of vinyl siding, though it definitely is less maintenance.
When I said I hate painting, I meant interior rooms. I don't care for exterior painting, either, but seems worse on the inside, having to watch for carpet and floors, etc.
