Cynthia, I think the name should reflect that it's Your interpretation of simple life. Not really raising chickens for meat but still making pancakes from scratch, no mix, etc.
I remember the day you got your last oven/stove. It had those coil electric burners on it. You were so happy getting a new one. At the time I lived in LINY, and of course people there have to have the latest and greatest only to eat out 5 nights a week.
But you really sparked something inside me that maybe humbled me. I realized how far away I had become from what I really wanted my life to be. I now get my 100 year old house to not have any appliances that tell time and date, remind me of appointments, chat with Alexa, or program with wi-fi or watch my dog when i'm not home.
Maybe part of having chickens is some of that. The chores are certainly humbling, and I am lucky to have the opportunity to shovel craap ., and cuss when a rooster just won't shut up.
Apparently, this house is surrounded by a farmer who raises cows. May be a blessing?
