The Evolution of Atlas: A Breeding (and Chat) Thread

I didn't originally mention it, but I did actually do a round of amoxicillin when I realized it was really something, not just a dry throat and messed up voice, that it was progressing. Happened to have them here already. I guess when I go to the dr next Thursday for my lab results ( vit D level was high, retested), I'll see what the doc thinks. Unfortunately I have little faith in the medical system after what I've seen from them, just being subcontractors for Big Pharma, not really knowing crap about a proper human diet, etc.
I've always had great immunity to just about everything, at least for the past 20+ years, so I don't know why I am getting stuff now, albeit only once each of the past two years. I eat an excellent diet, high protein and moderate animal fat, ultra low to no carbs, no seed oils or sugar, etc. Have done that for the past few years, but that does not make an impenetrable germ force field, I realize.
I am so ready for Spring!!!

This is our forecast, which is nothing for those in the midwest and north, but it has not hit single digit lows for quite a few years and so many days hovering near 10* at night this coming week starting tonight. We lived where it was -25* real temp, plus ice plus deep snow and I never want to go back to that again!
My poor chickens. At least I have some hay I can give them in their pens to add to the warmth under the few reptile bulbs we put out for the oldsters. Come on, Spring!!

Sorry to hear you have been under the weather, Cyn. I flew back from Florida 2 weeks ago, right over your north Georgia mountains, and saw the snow on the ground. Hope you feel a lot better soon!
Thank you, Mary. Yes, we got almost 5" of snow, which is not my favorite thing. And the temps got down to 4*F the night before last. I heard some of Florida had 12" of snow. Insane! Cheryl wouldn't have liked that much, I know. Gosh I do miss her! My chickens came through it fine. Haven't seen lows that low since the 2* night that gave Isaac frostbite when he slept on the floor (he fell off the roost, which happened quite a bit). Thankfully, our current barn is not raised off the ground so no frigid air passes underneath.
I saw the Dr today for my lab results which were great. She prescribed an inexpensive medication I'd never heard of, Benzotanate, which numbs some of the lungs and air passages to suppress a cough. She said it helps some with their cough and some don't get any relief. I took one when I got home and it made me dizzy for two hours, apparently one of the side effects so I waited until tonight to take a second (3xday/10 days). If it continues I won't keep taking it. I think it's just going to take time. Already, I think the cough is a little better in frequency. I did talk to my best friend for a long time and didn't have to hang up for a coughing fit so that's progress.
