The Evolution of Atlas: A Breeding (and Chat) Thread

My husband says his foot still hurts, but he's actually hobbling around on it some. Yippee! I thought I was in for a very long haul with this one. Well, I am in the long haul with my husband for sure. Our 50th anniversary is in December.

Good to hear he's feeling better. 50 years is a long time. We were also married in December. It will be our 38th this year.

I changed my avatar, so likely no one will find me for awhile, LOL.

Good grief. We had all those trees cut down back in October, including 100-200 yr old oaks. The round sections of oak have been sitting around in two huge piles because our electric splitter (and my husband, too) can't handle them. So we advertised all you want for $10, winter is coming again as always. There is probably two plus full cords of wood in there, not face cords, full cords.
Finally, someone came out here and got a few of them, but he couldn't load many them because they are so heavy. Then, the rest of them sat. Now, someone has come out to get them who has a firewood business. It's an old couple who are likely older than we are and he brought an axe. An axe, not a portable gas splitter and he can't pick those big things up. So, no way they're going to get many. He's out there with axe and maul. Why on earth is it so hard to give away stuff that, if they wait until everyone wants firewood, they'll end up paying a whole lot more than a measly $10? We advertised that they are heavy so bring a helper. Who do both these men bring? Their wives.

Everything can be explained by you saying "old men". That's what they do. Make decisions like they are young men.
Haha, yes they do! He did get a truck bed full of wood, took them ages to split that much. At least some of that is gone now.

Well, hubs is still wheeling around in a wheelchair or using a cane or walker. He's not exactly better yet so I still have a big work load, but it's much cooler now and that helps a lot.
Finally, after almost two weeks, my ebook is on Amazon as well as about nine other platforms, plus the print book will be out soon as well. Here is a preview of the updated cover/back blurb and the specific Amazon link: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0FNKTHJSP
Yes, I did write a chapter or two about chickens and how we've enjoyed the over the past 20+ years, in case you were going to ask, LOL. I'm using a pen name, which is the surname I was born with, not my maiden or married name.

I'm putting this here since the Atlas thread has become more of a chat thread now. Are these grayish-brown mushroom clusters with white edging the ones called Hen of the Woods? They are on an oak tree about the age of this country and crazily enough, inside the chicken pen, LOL. I just noticed a few days ago that they were clustered around the base of it. I hope they are not a sign that this tree is ailing because it's the second largest oak on my entire property. If it falls, it will crush my entire steel barn an likely kill some or all of my chickens and us if we're in there at the time. It's the largest of the triangular configuration of three oaks I have always called "The Three Sisters" and my husband's hammock spans between them. I think there is a different variety of 'shroom in the middle photo as well, maybe.
