The Evolution of Atlas: A Breeding (and Chat) Thread

There are a lot of bad doctors out there. Being a type 1 diabetic I have been through the ringer and back with doctors. I refuse to see an endocrinologist because they always want to control me. I have higher cholesterol than Tom. Tried 2 statins and could barely walk after a few months. I'd prefer to keep walking. I don't believe they are the answer to everything like they are touted to be. Hopefully Tom can find a better doctor. They're out there, but gotta pick through them all to find the good ones.

I hope he can find a good Dr. Statins are known to make some people have muscle aches. I was on them for awhile because my cholesterol is high. But my muscle aches got so much worse I had to stop taking them. My DR agreed that I was pretty low risk and that mine was probably due to genetics anyway.
Everyone stay safe and warm! -16* here right now 🥶

He already has a VA doctor, plus a kidney doctor and heart doctor. He doesn't even need a primary care doctor, IMO. If I wasn't hypothyroid, I'd probably never go back to one other than for injuries. They haven't figured out the cough after tests and scans, etc, etc, so why even bother? I am not committing to 3 years of allergy shots. There is one med that is supposed to reduce mucus so maybe that's the only thing to try because I find that when I start coughing to the point of choking, if I blow my nose really well, it stops. I have two appts coming up, one with the pulmonologist and one with the allergy clinic. I see no reason to keep either one. I can't live in a bubble and I'm allergic to almost every grass and plant on the property to a degree, so...been here going on 24 years and just now, it ramps up? Ack.

Same here for temps, -25. Everyone is doing fine except for the ones the pair of fox killed and stashed around the yard. We had to put our remaining donkey down a few weeks ago and apparently now that he's gone they are coming in the shed and helping themselves. We will need to close up the door at night now. We had it open for the geese, but they will be okay locked inside for the night.

Rained all night in the 30's, going to rain all day today, then drop to 18* and we'll have ice. Lows alternate between single digits and low teens until the middle of February. I hope beyond hope that we don't have a power outage. We have backup systems, but it's no fun to hustle to bring them into service in frigid, dangerous weather. Not looking forward to it.
7*, 18*, 15*, 9*, 12*, 10*, 16*, 18* are the lows starting Monday night. My birds are stuck inside for at least a week. Nothing for you folks far northwest of me, but this is dangerous weather for us old folks. Ice storms were awful when I was a kid. Ice is the worst. I'd rather have a foot of of snow than this. I do expect widespread power outages, but I hope the improvements made by my electric co-op over the past month make this less of an issue. Can always hope.
I got eggs from both Zara and Maddie again yesterday. Not bad for the elderly.

It's still raining here and in the 40's, but tonight, it will all freeze hard at 18* then, 7* and I'm not happy about it, but at least mid-Feb, we'll get a break. Then, we're on a downhill slide to spring, at least in the South. Daffodils have popped ground all over the place. My hyacinths came up in December, way earlier than normal.
The kids are fine in the barn. Dove is trying to go broody again. One day later on, I may give her three BR eggs just to let her raise chicks once, but no promises!
