mentioning the Lh surge and timeing reminded me of ttc our dd lol. If you are cool with collecting dog pee daily you can buy the LH surge strips online for very cheap and test daily just in case your vet is busy or something and you really need to get a breeding in. congrats on hopefully new puppies.

also edit to add I would breed her again as well. unless she has something that causes a specific issue then sometimes things just happen you know? if my dog I would simply breed her to a male with excellent health and an excellent family history of good fertility and healthy puppies.

Good luck. Just had a grump, seventh generation of my grump line, run a classic false pregnancy. I raised an exceptional male out of her first litter and have been unable to get her in whelp since. There are some unresolved health issues that $1,800 of vet bills and blood work have not identified. Thankfully a half sister just got her third win and lacks a few points of achieving her championship. I had her bred 2 weeks ago and hopefully, she will provide the next generation in this family. Their mother is among the top three hounds I have ever owned. I have not raised a litter of pups in over 3 years. I understand your desire to continue on with this family.

Jamie, I had planned to spay her. Some of my breeder friends talked me out of it. She really is a very nice b.itch, and I am very excited about this litter.

SOURLAND, best of luck with your breeding.

We got a successful breeding yesterday, and she was very receptive. We will breed again tomorrow, and also Friday if she is still showing interest.

Been reading this thread with interest - can one of you exlpain what a "grump" is? Is it a certain line of dogs? Wasn't sure since no one is capitalizing the "G". (Not meaning that as grammar police - just what is confusing me)

I hope she has a nice large, healthy bunch of babies for you and all is well and safe. She is a really pretty dog and from your comments seems she's got a great temperament too. What a nice combination!

I never understood why folks who pay for progesterones, to find out when ovulation occurs, still feel the need to do multiple breedings:idunno

I hate having multiple due dates so I spend the $ for progesterones to make my schedule a tad easier... I know the breeding date, I know the due date... one shot, one kill! The ONLY reason to ever do multiple breedings is if you have a grump who plateau's after ovulation which doesn't occur often OR you are using a stud dog with low sperm count or poor motility and if thats the case, do a surgical or TCI. JMO:)
