2 french black copper chicks are out as of 9 am. From 2 small very dark eggs!!!

Candled last night Day 9, 5 of the 16 looked clear or funky, marked those, the others
had some veining, so hopefully they will progress from here. Will recandle at day 16, and toss
then.

Here is my crowing rooster!!! It was soo hard. I would hear him crow at random times run out there then he would stop crowing. So I heard him crow 3 times a little bit ago. He came out of our old playhouse. I soomed in my camera and he crowed!! Sorry for the unclear kinda blury pic but here it is!!!

As far as time shipped, if eggs are handled carefully by the USPS shipping time is increased dramatically. I sent eggs to the midwest and 5 days later they arrived, non-machined, as requested.Less damage to the eggs. While the USPS can reroute packages to kingdom come and back, sometimes there is another reason.
Thanks, I hope so. I hadn't thought of them being careful, maybe that's what it was. They were shipped on a Friday morning, and sat in that post office until Tuesday, when they finally started west. They did arrive in good condition.

And congrats on the Marans hatch!!

Well I ran my first hatch on 45/65% and I had 100% hatch rate, but they were local eggs. After seeing the very large detached air sacs I bumped the humidity up to 65%, I think I will leave it there and then possible bump it up to 70% for lock down and see what that produces. The huge change in elevation and oxygen availability has me a bit concerned, I hope I get at least a 40% hatch out of each incubator.

I think I will candle them again tonight to see if there is a change in the air sac size since I upped the humidity. I don't think it will have shrunk, but I would love to see no change. If it stays that way I think it might be ok.

Best of luck to you! I look forward to your positive results

Quote: I'm at three, #4 is zipping. Others are popping out too.

I'm always learning something new. I though if I bred my EE hens to my high production rooster (brown shells) I would get blue eggs. NOT! It's a green egg. A very pretty bright green egg. I need to figure out how to make more blue eggs.
