I got blue (bird color) Olive eggers too, about half blue and half black - I can tell even with out my vetwrap because they have the Marans' feathered legs.

I would like to find a show girl or a Polish crested for my Bro-in-law for Father's Day. He's my hub's brother, and my hatch buddy. He has tried the polish from shipped eggs and has not had any success. He hatches my eggs like hotcakes! And he has one lonely showgirl that he's keeping, that was a surprise with a silkie egg order, and he loves her. The silkies did not do well.

I can't sleep when I have chicks hatching.

Me either! I stayed up both nights last weekend watching chicks born! I'm still sleep deprived.

crazypet, ... tell them there chickies to go! Looks like you already have a lot. I know what you mean when you say you can't sleep when you have chicks hatching. I was up off and on night before last, when these below started to hatch!
Everyone seems to be having something going on.
I sadly, only have 4 Showgirls left. On the other hand, I have more Welies that are doing good so far, they will hatch sooner than the showgirls.
I have Silkies in lock down now. 13...just went into lockdown today.

Just had these hatch yesterday!

My fav EE..dad is a pure Lavender Ameraucana, moms were white leghorns. Large Blue eggs on the way!
And a lot of them. Great combo for an EE


I thought Olive eggers were always black, but I got more blues than black chicks! They are pretty!

I love the pictures of all of the chicks!

I have a special place in my heart for baskets full of little fuzzy-butts.

Of the 31 I set, 26 are still cooking in the incubator. I also have four under my broody Welsummer that I haven't really checked but "feel" alive when I pick them up.

Should be on schedule to hatch Friday or Saturday.

My grow-out pen is full of 6- and 9-week olds, so I need more room for these groups! I went to Goodwill and picked up a small desk and small cabinet to re-purpose. I am taking them apart and making the desk into a little coop for the incubator chicks and the cabinet into a little coop for the broody mama and her brood. I only need to house all of the incubator chicks for about a week and then I'll be taking about half (hopefully a mostly-male half) back to the person who gave me the eggs to hatch.

I'm off for the summer now.

DH is going fishing, and I'll be outside with my dog working on these little coops. It should be a lovely day.

Lots of great baby pictures! Ameraucanas seem to make good crosses with everything! My favorite crosses are with Cochins and Iowa Blues.

That splash Cochin/AM in the middle is just adorable and is on her 2'nd round of broody fever
