The first chick from our broody hen! And questions..

One of the antwerps passed yesterday. we were expecting it. The chick had been standing weaker than the others and very friendly, which I have learned means it is most likely to die. The two eggs never hatched, sadly. And I have changed my mind about the first chick we got out of our birds. With it's feathers coming in, it looks like it is a d'uccle Cochin mix not pure d'uccle.

The dark colored chicks, which there are three of, are from our birds. The black are black japanese mixes. I am excited to see what they will look like. They have a bit of leg feathering!

We are keeping them in our living room due to the cold temperatures and it's been rather nice. I am hoping seeing us so much will make these chicks more friendly than the last batch(now adults). They are adorable to listen to. They scratch and cheep and peck around and they like to play "king of the hill" with an old shirt I gave them to cuddle up under. They climb on top then jump off onto each other. So cute!
