THE FIRST EGG MY CHICKENS LAID

My poor Blue Andalusian has been trying to lay her first egg for over a week. I was starting to get concerned for her. But she finally laid that first egg today. She is 6 months old. I see why she had such hesitation. The egg had some rough spots on it. It reminded me of kidney stones. Poor baby. .

We got our first egg about a half-hour ago!! The girl in my profile picture and in the top left picture I posted above laid her first.

She will lay again. I thought my Cochin would never lay a second egg. but she finally did. Now I get one a day They seem to need stability in their life when they start laying.

Ohhhh can you keep the picking hen away from her?. I had one rooster in the pen with 6 hens that he was raised with but he almost killed one of the pullets. He is being rehomed hopefully today.

It happens mostly at treat time so I shut the run door leaving her alone and give her treats in peace!
