THE FIRST EGG MY CHICKENS LAID

Pics
To be clear, I'm really happy with Mary...she laying in the nest and everything. Very cool.
I'm really hoping some of the others catch up soon. Summer and Chickoletta have such bright red combs, and they have for awhile. Maybe the roosters stressed them out. They left today along with Louise...one of the leghorns.

I have noticed that stress affects my hens laying

It even looks smaller than the one from two days ago.

Ginger in nest box 1st time.jpg
so far our Ginger has laid about four pullet eggs - she's erratic - sometimes laying two days in a row and sometimes skipping - here are two of the eggs in the frying pan - one has a double yolk inside that small egg and here's Ginger in the box and the others just dying to know what's going on

Lovely birds and eggs! Double yolkers are common in young pullets. Their equipment hasn't fully developed yet, eventually the double yolks will stop. Also, the tendency to lay doubles can be genetic.

All that is going on is that 2 yolks were released at the same time. The Uterus/Shell Gland doesn't distinguish 2 yolks but sees them as 1, and puts a shell on the entire thing. :)

What breed is Ginger? I haven't cooked any of ours up yet. Really wondering what is taking three or four of the others so long to start.

Found this little pearl in our bantam coop this morning. Not sure who is responsible bc I don't know which birds lay what color eggs.

I'm impressed that their first egg was the same size basically as Mary's eggs.
