and I'm a 2 year old..

those are roosters...

fhave you checked the blinker fluid in your car lately>? You need to get it into an auto shop ASAP-- I just saw in the TV this am. that some car in NY somewhere blew up from the blinker fluid getting low-- which resulted in a spark every time the blinker 'blinked'... This spark, after awhile flew through the lines, and into the gas tank... which... BOOM

I have other references.

Ovarian horomones determine plumage apearance.

And my blinker fliud at the proper level. How is yours?

I'm getting confused with two threads being crossposted on the subject. Couple of questions:

Do you actually have, or have been around in person, any of these birds?

Would you please provide a link to the actual information online?

Thank you.

It seems that we have been on this path of questioning credibility before. Because this is online, i cannot discern your questions as genuine interest, or discrediting gotcha questions. Either way I will answer.

Question #1

If I said yes I had birds that reverted to male characteristics, would you really believe me? This is online and I could be throwing you complete blatant lies.

I had a peahen and pheasant that began to look male-ish. I could not explain it at the time. The only explanation I have now is that the ovaries stopped producing estrogen.

Question #2

some info... abstract only.

First, the questions were directed to the OP. Second, it's an attempt to find out if it's a genuine thing or if it's another internet scam.

I appreciate the info you have provided, but still want to know more about the OP's source of info. Not trying to be of one opinion or another. Simply searching for more info from the OP.

Culling my bird is not an option. As LittleGrey said, this hen is a pet and we are quite attached to her.

If I thought she could survive the procedure I would attempt it, but as someone else mentioned, I'm guessing it might only be successful on a very young bird with an undeveloped reproductive system.

You actually gave me hope there for a few hours, but now I see that the entire thread is under suspicion so I will, for the moment, assume "spaying" is not an option.

Did they implant testicles or are they pumping testosterone into them?

No! I'm sure they didn't have that things

i have a hen that got her first egg stuck today. it was horrible. it came out but in the wrong shoot. i think under where it sholud have and it was still in her skin and just hanging there. if i hadnt took her to the vet she would have died. my hen is very special to me and i wouldnt care if she never laid another egg. so that is one reason to spay. me i have never heard of it either until someone posted and suggested it to me.

A little more than 2 years later and we have the same experience. 5 mos old pullet, 1st egg. Came down wrong, prolapsed with egg next to the way out, all on the outside. Took her to the vet, they could not get to the egg the way she was. It broke and they flushed it out and stitched her to try to keep the prolapse from happening again. All was fine until I went to giver her 1st antibiotic, and there was that ugly, dark red blog again. Yes, if I could get her spayed to save her life, I'd do it in a heartbeat. We have just 2 sisters that are in our backyard. Had them as eggs and hatched them ourselves. That being me and my 7 year old. She is upset. I am upset. Hawk is a special girl and deserves to live. She nor her sister is here to produce eggs or be eaten. They are to eat bugs and for us to enjoy. The vets never heard of spaying a chicken. I think it would be too late for this girl anyway. I can see she doesn't feel well. It's so sad.
