The Fortunate Unfortunates!

This is Arwen, an amber star hybrid who I rescued from a farm shop as a day-old with splay leg. The owners were just about to cull her ,

but I intervened and told them how to straighten her legs. The woman then basically said she couldn't be bothered and literally threw her into the bin. I then fished her out, carried her home, and raised her to be the friendliest and most lovely chook I've ever had. She also lays double-yolkers every day, massively surprising seeing as she is the smallest amber I've ever seen, and visibly stunted. She does not walk, she waddles.

And this is her now, swallowing a frog. I couldn't stop her, and she literally eats ANYTHING!

But alas, it is not only chickens that need rescuing sometimes. Almost all of my animals are 'runts' (but I prefer to call them 'needies'),

This is Romeo, the emu, so called because of his attempts to woo next doors' gosling when he was a poult, who I found in a 'please help me' box on the side of the motorway (DISGRACEFUL). He had maggots eating away at one wing, and was incredibly small for his age. I don't have any pics of him when he was a chick, but here he is in the snow, with digestive biscuit all over his face

Here is another one of my 'needies', Toothless the Beardie . She had MBD (Metabolic Bone Disease) but luckily I just about saved her in time, although her back legs don't work properly.
She was being picked on by all of her bro's and sisses, and I decided I couldn't let them eat her (that is what would have happened), so I went against the book and chose the 'weakling'.
