The Fricken Chicken story!

Wonder how big it will get? Lilly is just a tiny girl compared to Falkor? Fritzy didn't get much larger than his sebright mother, Trouble.

2 wild things happen today!
First thing... 5am I am letting dogs out to go potty. I hear my chicks frantically peeping from clean across the yard. So I go get my flashlight and go check them. One paint chick was stuck between the cage and nest box. So back in with mom it goes.
Around noon today I went out to toss some kitchen scraps to my layer flock. Then stop and see the silkie group. As I'm standing with mom and babies I hear the God forsaken rooster screech and a big slam to my fence. That damn hawk tried to snag my silkie standing 10ft from me. And clipped my silkies run fencing! Thank God. Or I'd be down a silkie.
Oh then I clearly broke my toe on my kids trampoline today too... what a day I've had!
OMWord that's crazy! Someone needs to come out with hawk repelont! Hope your toe heals!

I had one of those days Saturday. My sisters pig, well the look more like feral hogs. Anyway I was trying to get him back in his pen, I put my hand is front of him so he would turn around and run in the pen. No he lounged forward and his tusk jabbed me in the inside nuccle, and an inch long gash in my middle finger. It bled and bled. It definitely a lot better today. The pig has been put down. I hope he doesn't have rabbis.

Ive got to convince my mom to let me get colored layer bantams. I can't seem to keep them alive. I can't keep sebrights alive ether.

Do you ever have a problem with Falkor mounting bantam hens? My EE cockerel mounts my bantam cochin, and I'm always scared that he'll hurt her because he's so much bigger than her. Whenever I'm there, I always take him off her, but I'm not always there, of course. I do plan on eventually separating them, but I had to pause my second coop build because of the winter.

Falkor is usually a gentleman. As gentle as any large rooster can be, with a little hen 🤷‍♀️ he has never been a rough rooster to any of his ladies. His son, Fritzy is half Falkor size, and he is rougher on them. Maybe because Falkor has always intermingled with a mix flock of standards and bantam hens. So to answer your question, no. I dont typically worry about him and his wee lady friends.
