The Front Porch Swing

Aren't turkeys funny! Fidget is so loving with her little itty bitties right now, but let's me pick them up. Prissy sits below them and calls to the babies. She wants them so bad! I would let her help, but she left her own when they were only a week. Silly girl! I have one broody Marans hen that has been broody for about six months. She keeps killing and eating her chicks. Literally I found her with the feet sticking out of her beak! Stupid girl! We don't give her eggs, she steals them from other broodies just before they hatch. She's disgusting! I think we will eat her. Clarissa another Marans is an awesome broody! I think she could hatch a rock. Our Marans pullets are just beginning to lay now and they lay the cutest little chocolate eggs ALL OVER THE BLOODY PLACE!

Good luck at the auction Krazy! . Let us know what cute little things you bring home.

lol @ that pic! didn't buy any birds, but sold the roos, the trio. a dozen guineas and a few chicks, was a nice bit of money, for this area especially, where people don't know anything other than barred rocks and rhode island reds, lol.
I would most definitely be eating that broody marans, no good to be broody all the dang time if you are just gonna eat the babies.

Krazy congrats on the auction, we went to a sale at our TSC(I don't think they advertised it at all) sold nothing. One guy loves them but wasn't buying another thought $10-15 was to much for juvenile pullets about 10 weeks old, then wanted to know what the bird was in the crate. I told them that if they didn't like $10 for a pullet then they wouldn't want to talk about Chocolate Orpington Bantam.

I know! Alex keeps thinking she will stop doing it, but I'm pretty sick of her!

Had a neighbor from our last house out today to learn how to butcher his roosters. He plans to come back everyday he can over the next weeks to get proficient at it. I don't mind the help at all! He will be helping with the last 80 cornishx and some ducks and geese. May throw in a few turkeys too. It'll be nice to get rid of some birds!

thats how it goes TN, people want without paying...I sold a few eggs from the blue red pen...I had breedloveacres messaging me about genetics before she bid,,,,umm not going to tell you, it's my project now. get your own
and another asked me if I would sell the roo....another great big fat NO.
I have been feeding them this long, I can continue, if I have to eat them, will be the best **** chicken ever

I showed this cartoon to so many people...LOLOLOLOL Love it!!!

Yeh when they act that way we don't talk long. I know what feed costs and care. We charge $25-35 for a laying hen, unless it is something rare enough to demand more. We get $10-30 for juveniles depending on age and breed once again unless its rare enough for more and chicks abreeds $5 -60 straight run only except auto sexing breeds which are pullets only for now helps to whittle down the $2-3 competitors.

Cleaning the largest coop today. Lots of work! Hope to have it done before evening perch finding comes about. Well back to it.
