The Front Porch Swing

Oh I almost forgot! We have three poults hatching today and need to figure out who the lucky momma will be. Alex votes for Lily, but she's not tried and true, so I'll think about it. Really hate to give poults to a momma that Ive had no experience with. Those girls can have chicks.

Hey how is everyone? We just moved our Spitzhaubens to their new coop. We have talked to Greenfire and what we have come up with is we can run black, black white and white together. Then chamois and gold together. Anyone have any information.

I'm good Tiffany and Steve! But I know noting about that breed, so I'm of little use to you there.

We cleaned the largest coop today. It was due big time. Alex decided no more once a month! It's easier to clean once a week. Good luck with that my young son!

I'm starting to butcher the last batch of fatties tomorrow. It should take me about 3 weeks to get them all finished, then we are obliterating all the ducks and geese, and after that I need to start turkeys. No my poor baby turkeys! I hate it when I have so many extra girlies. It's just not fair! http://www.smileyvault.com/albums/userpics/13802/crying_smiley.gif[/IMG]

That is usually my issue, but this year I have an over abundance of girls. Seems like everyone else got mostly boys and I musta kept all the girl eggs. It's going to be really hard picking and choosing the girls as most of them are cuddly as all get outs. I'm hoping to trade some with another breeder, but there are still tons of girls. Course I got lots of boys too! But then I have lots of orders to fill too.

I have too many roosters. I wish I didn't like the roosters so much...they have such personalities. They strut, they show the girls where the food is (mostly to woo them, I think)
I have this rooster that makes nests for the hens and kind of clucks at them to show it to them. yeah, sometimes they posture but they don't hurt each other. although sometimes a few feathers fly.

Hey, if they are all getting along whos gonna complain? AS long as the hens are happy, your good!

Us guys r that way always caring for our lady

Well we git the fence repaired behind the barn So we could contain Rein to keep a better eye on her and its got better grass for her. We will be able to monitor her water intake this way.

Good for you! It's hard separating them sometimes, but it's for the best. We watch Dandy pretty closely. His is caused by not drinking enough. He's a stubborn boy. I always think its so funny how he tosses his head and throws a fit. Like that's going to make me change my mind.
