My girls gave me an egg flower today - got a tan, a dark brown, a green, a blue, (which I didn't break this time!) and a pink! The pink came from a Buff Orpington so I'm sure it was a first egg, pigment thing, but it sure is purty!

I love all the colors! That's fantastic!

My husband installed our new ador automatic chicken door yesterday. I feel guilty about the expense, to me this is as frivolous as a diamond incrusted broom. But, I totally love it.

An automatic chicken door has value, you don't have to be available to operate it The jewel encrusted broom doesn't sweep any better than a plain boring one.

Oh, I'm so mad I could spit! Little Diane and Dustin were assaulted last night. This was her post on FB:

So. I got assaulted tonight. A grown man drop kicked me in the ribs and sent me flying back into the passenger door, and I cracked my head on the armrest on the door... AFTER he threw open the back drivers door and started punching Dustin in the face. He came all the way from the drivers side, to my side and kicked me, and then started punching the back passenger window hard as hell trying to get to Dustin. Then he went all the way back to the drivers side to go after Jacob. But Jacob put his hands up, and he backed off. Paramedics wanted me to go to the ER for X rays, but my lack of insurance stops me from doing that.
Who drop kicks a 90 pound girl? He claimed I was pulling a gun from my pocket, when in reality, Dustin was screaming to call the cops, and so I got out with my phone in my hand.
All because we were parked in his spot.

Then she added this:

• Yeah, he went to jail last night. We're both pressing charges, so he'll be responsible for my medical bills.
  And he literally has no defense. None of us had time to react. I didn't even have time to brace myself after I got out if the car. He literally kicked me so hard that his foot leaving my chest left a scratch all the way down my stomach. I hit my head pretty hard, so that feels like death right now, but I think I'm alright.
  It was completely unprovoked and I can't wrap my head around it..
  I'm just so glad Dustin locked his door so the guy couldn't get in after he kicked me and that the back window didn't break in on Dustins face.

    The cops said that there was alcohol involved. So I don't know how drunk he was, but he was caught red handed driving under the influence. I hope he stays locked up for a good while.

Who DOES this to somebody else? It's horrible to happen to anyone but she's no bigger than a minute! Size 00 jeans are too big for her. Just talked to her and her pain meds are wearing off, her head is throbbing, and the bruising on her ribs and stomach is starting to color up. Oh, I'm just so angry right now!! Let's just pray that this maniac gets what he deserves. And for a speedy recovery for her and Dustin. Dustin is a hurting unit today too. I don't understand deliberately hurting another human being. Alcohol isn't a reason - it's an excuse.

Sorry to be rude but that just pisses me off no end. We NEED single payer health care in this stupid country. EVERY other "first world" nation has it. But no, here, a tiny little scrap of a girl gets beat half to death by a drunk over a parking space and she doesn't go to a hospital because she has no insurance.

And I can tell you I know what it costs. My wife is on Enbrel, it is what has kept her out of a wheelchair the 14 years she's had rheumatoid arthritis. I have 3 choices through my prior employer. The only reason I'm going that way instead of the ACA exchange is because there is $40K of their money in a "future health account" that can be used ONLY to buy insurance through the company. If I don't use it, they keep it. It isn't real money anyway, just an accounting thing. So, for a SHORT time, no cash out of my pocket to buy the insurance. Options:
1) high deductible - $19K a year and with the $1K cap on drugs, the Enbrel would cost $32K, yes THIRTY TWO THOUSAND DOLLARS, real cash money. And they don't pay squat other than physicals until you have paid the first $10K/person in medical costs (that does not include drugs)
2) med deductible - $24K a year and with the $2.5K cap on drugs, the Enbrel would cost $30.5K real cash money. $5K/person deductible before they pay anything.
3) low deductible - $29K a year and with no cap on drugs, the Enbrel will cost $200 real cash money. $500/person deductible.

I would say "off my soap box now" but I will NEVER get off that box until basic health care is available to everyone.
