The Front Porch Swing

Last night was pretty tough - I lost my seat on the town council. I saw the handwriting on the wall, what with the "Town Crier's" agenda, but it hurt nonetheless. Today is a new day, and I'm feeling better. I still live in the best little town on the planet, with the best family on the planet, so all things considered I have it pretty doggone good. One of the winners was on the Planning and Zoning commission so his seat there is vacant, and I really enjoyed being on P&Z before. So I think I'll talk to the mayor and volunteer for that seat. After 2 years on P&Z and 4 years on the Council I can't imagine not serving Cowley in some capacity, and P&Z is one of those thankless jobs that we can never seem to get anyone to volunteer for. I'm very familiar with the workings - I helped draft the town's development codes - so stepping back in shouldn't be a problem.

I just hope I can maintain some dignity when I turn in my town hall keys, my Log Gym badge, and my First Responder's books. That day is gonna be a tough one.

Blooie, I watched a lot of election 'stuff' yesterday and wondered about how you were doing. I see you are rebounding nicely with your fresh ideas about serving your community in another capacity. If ALL 'politicians' thought like you do, our country would not be in the shape it is in today.

I just hope that the person that won your seat does not let his voters down.............

Blooie, the fact that you still want to serve your town speaks volumes about your character. So many people run and don't get there way and pout and then trash talk the very community they were claiming to want to serve. Your actions show that you truly care about the people and the place you live in. Weather everyone knows it or not, your community is lucky to have you! If everyone in politics was like you, we would have a much better world.

Sorry you lost your seat, Blooie. I am familiar with small town politics. Hope the guy enjoys being the yes man to the "town ladies". And I just want to give you a

on being gracious in defeat and dedicated to your town.

Then there's always cooking and carpentry with Felix
wink.png

Yesterday was chicken-sundried tomato pasta.

1 lb chicken, cut into strips.
1 clove garlic
1 shallot
½ cup of sundried tomatoes
1 cup cream
oregano
salt
pepper
fresh basil

Fry the garlic and onion on low heat in oil, once they're cooked, turn up the heat and throw in the chicken. When the chicken is cooked, add the tomatoes, cream and the seasonings, except for the basil. When the sauce is ready, add the basil, and serve with pasta and Parmesan cheese. The sauce might need to be thickened a bit, some corn starch works for that.

Where is the YouTube channel and what time is the show Felix?

I can see the first episode now:
Part 1: make a spoon in your shop
Part 2: use the spoon to cook the food

Future episodes might include making your cutting board.

It's all part of the greater plan, I'm sure. Who knows what the future may bring?
