I wish it was just not wanting to get up.   I am running out of steam and neeeed sleep.   I cant though.  Grandma fell the other day so am being extra vigilant keeping the baby monitor on listening for anything different.

My real sleep happens as a nap of about two to three hours in the afternoon.  But "stuff" happening means I have missed my nap for about four days in a row.

Sorry Deb, that's a hard place to be in. Hopefully there is someone to give you time here and there. Your grandma is lucky to have you and I'm sure you are lucky to have her too.

Yep grandma was born in 1916 July she will be 100. ONly the past few weeks has grandma showing diminished thought process. More of the inability to concentrate on written information. Up till now she has been able to take care of writing checks for bills. I got her on line for bill paying for all the big stuff last year... but she has a gardener and a house keeper that come twice a month. She has that down pat. It was the IRS payment she got confused with. Remembering instructions she had had last year that dont apply this year. Took me a while to convince her she was doing it right.

She then complained about needing a keeper.... sigh. When you talk to her there is no waver or tremor in her voice. If you heard her on the phone it would take you a while to realize, shes elderly. but you would never realize how elderly she is.

Your grandma sounds a lot like my great grandpa! He lived to be 106, until her turned 100 he had a huge garden and was active in the garden, totally fine, would have never known how old he was. After he turned 100, he was still all with it, but he couldn't keep up with the garden, so just had a small garden after that. Funny how we all age different. I had a great grandma who was 101 when she died and was the same way. Completely with it, carried on conversations and everything. Then my grandpa at 80 had Alzheimer's and went downhill fast. I always wonder what cards I have been delt, but I guess if I was delt the Alzheimer's hand, I won't remember to care about it when it happens

I'm sorry about your grandma. I know how you feel about her. But just remember, you can't take care of her if you're too exhausted, so if you have to try a little Melatonin or something to help you get some sleep, at least you'd still be able to hear her if the monitor went off.

doesnt work melatonin kicks my butt. I do take an OTC sleeping aid. looked up the ingredient and its the same as Benadril... works great but makes me incredibly groggy in the morning to the point its hard for me to catch my breath.

I am going to ask my son to cover for me to let me sleep in. I actually was able to sleep in this morning. Slept till noon.

Part of my problem is I am so tired It takes four shots of espresso to jump start me in the morning. I cant go without or I get migraines. Catch 22.

Normally I go and then crash for a day or two son takes over... all good. but my crash time hit around the day after Christmas and I HAD to go see Star Wars... at the drive in.... Threw the whole schedual out of wack. Now New Years celebration. I have to do dinner Pot of beans and I will be free for a few days.

I am thinking of driving up home just to breathe the air for a while

I'm pretty proud of myself today. The week isn't even over and my son has written all his thank you cards. My goal was have him do 2 a day, but I got him to do six. It's possible I bribed him with chocolate if he finished them all

today! We put them all in the mailbox, so we are good! This is the first year he had to write the whole card, so it was more of a struggle. He use to just have to scribble on them or sign his name. I was writing mine too, so at least he sees that that's what you do. I tell him if someone thought about him enough to get him something, he can send them a card. I'm mostly happy I don't have to get him to write anymore tomorrow

. We can just have our cookie decorating party and have fun!

My older sister's kids got that message (not always as timely) but my younger sister's kids stopped getting gifts from us, they couldn't be bothered to send a thank you. And I don't require a tome, not even a mailed thank you, email is fine. I know my sister wasn't raised that way, don't know about the BIL. We did give the older niece a wedding present and got a timely thank you so at least she still has it in the back of her mind or her husband does

It amazes me how few people send thank yous. I always had two. As soon as my son could hold a crayon, he had to "write" a thank you. So for a few years people got a card with scribbles that I wrote on and I would tell him "this is the thank you for....... they got you this, that was so nice of them to think of you and now we are telling them thank you". Then he had to sign his name and now he has to write them. I rarely get thank yous from anyone, but I don't send many people gifts either. At the very least someone could take the time to txt a "thank you for coming and for the.....", but they just don't.
