The Front Porch Swing

One of our neighbors brought a young GSD out to our place and it was the first time she saw chickens...she immediately ran for the coop and towards the young chicks I had there. Her owners could not stop her, screamed, etc., and I just waited until she came around the coop and caught her. Within 3 min. I had her turning her head whenever a chick was presented to her. When I let her go and she took a step towards the coop, it took one correction and she laid back down and would no longer look at the young birds running to and fro. After that she acted like there was no such thing as chickens within 5 yds of her.

I think the GSDs are extremely intelligent and responsive dogs if one just lets them know what is desired of them. Maybe you could start all over with their training and see what happens. You'll never know until you try!
What are GSD's

Not a fair question tonight. I drove through a snow storm (well, heavy flurries at least) to get eggs so I could make custard tonight. Been seeing too many recipes for custard lately.
Weird thing is, I have never made custard in my life.

I have. ONCE about 30 years ago.

I'm curious...

What do you guys do with your extra eggs? Besides make custard?

When I had a working flock, I sold them to pay for feed and replacement stock and for pizzas on "working days" for my teenage boys.

When I had some left over that hadn't sold, I'd donate them to the local food pantry. Some I would take to my elderly patients and also give to friends are church.

Now I have a small flock and they aren't producing like my other flocks always have, so we have enough to eat and some to give to family now and again.

Quote: sounds like here some. Grandma has all her sparks. So dont play cards with her she wins.... LOL. She was an efficiency expert and a rosie the riveter for Mclellan AFB and before she broke her hip you could eat off her floors. I am NOT the house keeper she was... never will be. I am comfortable in clutter... but I try and she trys to be understanding... Its hard on both of us.

So my friend is having a birthday. Should I make her custard or cocoa powder brownies? My baking repertoire is tiny! Of course I'll share with you guys, so your opinions count.
