The Front Porch Swing

Going to tell you girls a funny. In a couple of weeks I have an appointment to get my hair cut at a beauty salon...and it will be the first time for that since 1981 for me. My mother has always cut my hair and I have never trusted anyone else to do it, but now she has forgotten how to cut hair and so I must face the dreaded "beauty" salon. I've had the same hair style since 1981, though the layers are longer now, but I don't wish to change it and I don't know if anyone will know how to cut it right. Should be quite the adventure!

I have been around men quite a bit more than I have women and a lot of times I am a lot more comfortable around men. But I can see that situation being a little bit of a pain. :/

Do an '80's search and find the hairstyle you want and take them a pic. Hopefully they can get close! And be sure to go to somebody close to your age, not a youngster that wasn't around in the 80's! LOL You will love it. I always like a fresh haircut... unless they get carried away a little too much.

I'm still wearin' the hairstyle I want.

Just need it shorter in some areas that have grown out, blended and shaped, but do not want to lose my length in the back. See? That's where it gets complicated...I don't want anyone else's look, I just want to keep my own.

That getting "carried away" is the part I do not like...I've went for perms and coloring on occasion down through the many years and it seems like they want you to accept what THEY want for your hair but will absolutely ignore what YOU want.

I did hunt down the one colorist that actually listened and did a good job and I'm going to trust her with my hair once again...and she is a 90s era lady so she just might remember the 80s.

Quote: I live in a small portion of the Sonoran Desert at 3200 feet. 90 miles from the Pacific Ocean and 90 miles from the sea of Cortez. 2 miles from the Mexican Border and 1.5 miles from the nearest paved road.

I can stand in my back yard and look due South deep into Baja California.... due North If I could see out of my well of Rocks I could see Volcanic hills Steep piles of Granite rocks to the edge of Borrego. And on to the Salt N Sea. Which is only just above sea level. The wind blows from the desert bringing in with it the smell of Ozone and absolute cleanness. The wind that blows from the sea smells of Iodine..... All are swept clean by the mountains and miles and burned purified land.

At night I have no lights outside to hide the Milky way and the universe beyond. Some of those stars you see are really galaxies of their own thousands of light years away. The valleys here were considered sacred places by the Kumeyay. they wandered their way through but never built here.

When I took walks with my goats I would find a place in the rocks and just sit and listen to their leaf rustle hooves as they cavorted and explored.... and listen to the prevailing silence.... The kind of silence that allows you to think to meditate to simply "be".

That last one is hard for many people to take.... Being here now and having no running dialogue.... Just being a conduit for your senses.

My own kind of spiritual expression.

Ahhh Deb, that sounds like heaven! I love it IF you can get somewhere with no man made NOISE. You can just sit and look around and be amazed by God's handiwork. :)

That ought to work. The same woman has cut my hair since I was a teenager. I haven't changed hairstyles in yearssss either. It's kind of like going into a bar, "The regular?" "Yep." I keep saying I am going to do something wild and different someday, color and all!
