Praise God, this has been a very, very, sad and beautiful morning, I caught up on all the stories and between tears and prayers I am about exhausted.
What unbelievable courage and strength you and your families have.
And thank God you have come through it all with greater faith than before PLUS such really beautiful children and grandchildren.

I am praying for you all, and for everyone who comes to the "porch" There is a kindred here like no where else.

Okay, out to work on the coop while it's warm - a balmy 33 degrees! Since the outer shell is mostly done, we are going to use a small heater and work on the inside stuff like roosts, poop boards, and a divider to keep the chicks confined to one area with a little supplemental heat until the weather warms up. Hoping that they are outside by this weekend.

On a positive note, I feel terrific today. My babies are in Shreveport headed this way. This evening or tomorrow morning. I put all my troubles in God's hands and a weight has been lifted.

Well, we had quite the conversation yesterday but on to lighter topics today!

I met my boss's mother and let me tell you, she is my kind of lady! She has her own small businesses that she has run for 18 years, all successful. She is going to talk to my boss and ask if she can hang around the store with me and sell the scrubs (there is an excess of scrubs here

). She was telling me I should speak my mind about getting him to stick around more because this place needs better customer service that I can't provide unless he is here (or if he'd just give me a solid price list that I can work with!). Calling him up every time a customer wants a quote is ridiculous. That shouldn't be the norm. A guy came a second ago and asked for a quote on embroidery and she was darn near ready to just give him one because she knows how businesses work.
I've already designed a shirt today, so I'm done. I'm waiting for email responses and that's about all I can do until he comes back. I wish he'd give me more stuff to do. I like feeling a little frantic when I'm designing. It keeps me on my toes!

Oooh! I finally got a response from the lady who I wanted to buy muscovy eggs from! She says she has them available and that all I need to do is give her a week's notice so she can get them ready for me. I'm so pumped, but now I have to put my incubator plans in gear and get it done quick! So much to do and I don't even have a place for the babies, but they take 35 days, so I have time! If only one of my hens would go broody, I wouldn't have to do it. I really want to hatch about 2 dozen eggs (and each is about $2.50), plus shipping, so this endeavor will be costly. I'd say about $100 to just get them here, then the cost of building the incubator, and then the feed. It's a lot to take care of.

By the way, I saw the coolest thing this morning. My brother and I were going to get breakfast at Whataburger before he dropped me off at work when we passed by a canal. A HUGE black muscovy came soaring over us, head feathers raised up like my muscovy's do and I was so blown away by how majestic it was. Before Indie (my muscovy) got her wing clipped, she'd fly from the coop to the pool, landing gracefully and scaring all the chickens away. I don't think she was used to seeing hawks, though, because whenever she did, she'd fly over the fence and hide in the tall weeds until they'd pass. When I'd go outside, she'd be waiting for me to let her back inside (because apparently, she couldn't just fly back over, silly girl).

Ok, I'm coming to the porch to sit a spell. Woosh. Tired. Got my 19 babies happy and settled. Disposed of the tiny pancake. (awww) From Meyer. I ordered 18 and they sent 2 extra. Totally forgot about the feather dusters. I'll have to put them out later. The six comets are fine. Everything else is yellow. I got a couple that had a little dark feathering on side but 1 I lost. Dont know what is what right now. 5 pullets of White Rock and Delaware and 2 roos ea. I gave them one drop of Nutridrench but they seem to be active and loud. It's right at 95 in there now. I had to turn the heat off totally and just keep the lamp because it was 104. Everything frosted this morning and cool but will be 85 or so today. They won't have to stay inside long. If I can get my coop finished and a heating pad out there they will be set. One jumped out of the box on the table and fell to the floor. Didn't seem to effect I never know which one now. ha

I want to thank everybody for their help and encouragement. This has been a long 6 mo. My battery for the camera is supposed to come today. Hopefully. I promise I really have babies. I'm not jiving you.
