Ladies I want to tell you what a wonderfully sweet husband God has blessed me with. As you all know I have been wanting turkey poults so very much but could not find any anywhere. I had even tried the hatcheries and there was a waiting list and besides that you had to order a minimum of 15. I don't have room for 15 little eating machines. But when I got home today my husband had driven 55 miles to Chickasha and purchased 6 of the cuties little poults you have ever seen. He had them nice'n warm in the brooder with water and food and even put in a tutor chick in to teach them to eat and drink. Wow what a man.

Ladies, she DOES have a fabulous husband. He is a blessing indeed. I'm so happy for you Carolyn, I know how much you wanted those turkeys and they are soo cute. Husband isn't a bad looker either!

Bahahahaha That makes me feel better. I was frazzled for a while and getting the 1/2 gal waterer set up I screwed the top on and turned it over. Evidentally I was screwing the wrong side of the lid because I lost half of it on the floor, table, me not the babies thank goodness. Felt like an idiot.

I bet if we all were honest about it, we have done some really idiotic things to our poor birds/pets Thank God He protects poor helpless critters, and even when He has to protect them those that love them!!!

Guess what I found this AM???? A sweet nest of three baby kittens! I ADORE cats!!!! They were in the hay of my horses manger. Thankfully horses don't eat kittens.

My horse is a chow hound.
ps. I don't have any cats sooo these are just a lost/stray who decided this was a good place to live. Haven't even seen her.
Guess God knew I needed some cats to love.

Please just shoot me now............ This week has been awful. Abby has been sick since Saturday. Clayton (my 6 yo son) cut his foot open on Tuesday. Ratchet got ahold of the BCM pullet Tues, and she died yesterday. I started feeling cruddy yesterday, and don't feel much better today. Clayton got up at 4 this morning, exploding from both ends... (sorry TMI, I know). Jayden (7yo DD) was whiny this morning, so she may be getting sick as well..... Lord, please help feel better fast, because I don't know if I can handle everyone being sick at once, if I'm sick too!

I am so sorry, it sounds like a nighmare. It WILL pass, but it's not going to be good for a little while longer. Spring seems to bring on a bunch if illness and accidents, at least around here.
I am praying for you and know so many other are also. Keep the faith, stay strong as you can. You are needed by all those you love.

Guess what!?!?!?!!?

It's time for more egg photos!!!!!

I know you've all been waiting.

Here is a big egg from my overachiever duck ...



(I'd hatch some of those, but they are double yolkers. Her biggest was well over 4 ounces, this one is not that large.)

And a small chicken egg ...


That one is only 22 grams. Yes, I really do arrange my eggs by color. And I catalog them. Every day.

I LOVE those off-white eggs. They are new this year, so they are might be from the mutts we hatched here last spring/summer. Or maybe the Silver Laced Wyandottes, that looked so miserable from bad feathering last year I doubt any of them had the heart to lay (they look awesome since they molted!) I need to check my egg charts to see what breeds lay off-white eggs.

I've gotten a full dozen of the blue/green eggs two different days in the past week.

That has been one of my goals. Next I'd love to get a full dozen each of blue/green, white, and Maran's eggs.

Ditto that!! If you aren't already, make a practice of putting a little bleach in your dish water and, if you can, use plastic cups and foam plates that you can dispose of when folks are done with them during times of sickness. It really cuts down on this type of germ merry go round for families.

You can do this...the Lord will see you through on this time. Just don't try to be a hero and keep everything up to standards around the house...and call for help from the family!
