The Front Porch Swing

First, Kendra is a beautiful girl!!! What a cutie!!!

I'm so glad she is getting stronger and hitting milestones. And your sister!!! Tell her she is my hero...anyone who would lose that much weight just to give someone a kidney, well...that's just more than most folks could or would ever do. I know I don't have a single sister who would do that for me, not even. Give her a big hug for me and tell her that she is some kind of woman!

No worries about that thermometer...I think I washed it...I just know I did....maybe. Pretty sure.

I'll tell her....we've all told her but she deserves to hear it again. All 4 of us signed up immediately to donate. I was rejected first. Too many of my own issues. <sigh> I really thought I'd be the likely match because we are full sisters. Sister Lori was a "no" because she has a different blood type, and with brother Ron there was something about an Rh factor. Linda has steadfastly refused to allow any of her kids or any of our kids to be even be tested. She says they are all young with long lives ahead of them and kids of their own. She wasn't really comfortable with any of us offering, but we didn't leave her any choice. Austin had checked the organ donation box when he got his first driver's license, and when he died so many people had second chances, so I look at organ donation in a whole new way...both as someone who has a loved one waiting for an organ and as the gramma of a hero.

And about that thermometer - you can't fool me, I know you washed it just to get the Pepsi off it!

Sure hope all of our Porch sitters get over these wuzwels soon! Hate to have any of you feeling bad! How funny - so many strangers becoming such good friends on a Porch we've never even seen.

Ben and Kodi both sound like a good ones. I'm sure it is a relief to have both your dogs around so you don't have to worry about all the critters wanting to eat your chickens. I have to say, even though I can't trust my dogs with my birds, they have kept everything ran off (except stray dogs). Especially at night they are watching and barking. One just loves to bark but if the other barks there is something to bark at. If they weren't out there I would have all kinds of critters trying to eat my birds. Does Ben get in the road?
He will go to the road in front of our house which is a side street. When we first got him, he was disoriented with the unfamiliar place, he jumped the fence and took off. Fortunately a woman found him and called the shelter and told them she had him, so when I called, they had the ladies number and went and picked him up. Once he realized where "home" was, he's been fine. He will go to the road when I mow....but he is protecting me....he thinks...when I come back, so does he. He is really pretty good about staying out of the road. He does occasionally go to the neighbor's house across the street at night, and steal the empty cat food cans that she sets out for her cats.....Unfortunately he brings them to me, and they end up in the yard....LOL.....I guess it's like a cop on patrol stopping for a donut...LOL

Here is a cool use for an old bathtub if you have ducks. I can see the dirty water easily being used to irrigate/water a garden.

@ 13 minutes more about the tub - cool!

He sure did make that complicated, didn't he? I think I would have left the original drain in it, with just a rubber plug with a pull cord for releasing the water, attached a garden hose and run it out to the garden, with an irrigation hose attached to the end. Maybe he did that so it wouldn't easily get clogged with debris but I'm betting the rocks will wear most of the debris off the feet before they ever enter the water.

All that beautiful forage area and they keep that many ducks in a barren, too small pen...and it's wet, slick and a perfect petri dish for harmful bacteria. ****Sigh****

Yeah I bet that pen was a real poop slick. I was also wondering if those ducks could reach that electric fence behind the bath tub. Yikes! I don't know why he used the pvc unless it was so he could drill holes in the long piece so the water would drain out along the whole length of it and so it would drain fast and not clog. Sure would be nice on a garden. I would probably use a wood ramp instead of the rocks. I bet that would be cheaper if you had to buy the rocks. Good use for an old bath tub.

For some reason I can't open any of the links on here. I have windows 8 and have issues with a lot of stuff. Would like to see the duck bathtub. We have an old clawfoot that was left by the previous owner. Exciting weekend for us. We are picking up our Great Pyr mamma dog and pup, going to a farm equipment auction on Saturday, and meeting today with a local farmer to see about getting at least 2 Scottish Highland cattle. Setting eggs tomorrow morning for the Easter hatch-a-long. Cleaned out the storage barn yesterday. It was really bad after this winter. It is also the barn where the outside tribe of cats live and one of my brooders is in there. Spring weather today, but rain for the outdoor auction Saturday. We also have to get some fencing in and a kennel for the new dogs until they know this is home. Busy weekend. I'll need a large glass of tea when I am done!

A tired and happy Deb
