The Front Porch Swing

It is windy. We haven't had power all morning. Trees down every where and some hung up as widow makers. The chickens are staying in or close to the coop. The chicks are chilly but ok. My incubator got down to 82*. I hope and pray it hasn't killed everything in it.

I sure the chickies are OK! My electric was off again last week...... I lost another developing embryo. :(

Arrrggghhhhhh....I'm NEVER going to get these chickens out of here! Not going to be a fit day to finish the coop, and it's not looking good for several days. Guess I'll just have to drag out the quilt, work on that for a bit, and then maybe spend a little time in the hot tub to ease yesterday's aches and pains.

Anyway, good morning my fellow porch sitters. Hope everyone is getting over their wuzwells! Good luck with the dogs, Mamma....I know you're excited.

Bee, how's our little baby girl doing? Jaundice clearing up well? Been kinda watching for updates and photos....

We were going to go to Cody today. Think we'll head north to Billings instead to pick up the last of the stuff we need. Storm not supposed to hit there until tonight. So I'll catch you all later my friends! Happy Sunday!

My goodness! If we had that forecast I'd be dancing!!! Looks like our high might hit 2f today... Another couple weeks before we get above freezing weather!

Good morning all! Just a quick cup of coffee and then I'm off to a local state prison to visit with a dear sweet brother in Christ. Be back later to catch up. Everyone who is feeling puny, feel better! Rest up-the weather here in Houston is just gorgeous.

Remember them that are in bonds, as bound with them; and them which suffer adversity, as being yourselves also in the body.

What a wonderful way to spend a Sunday afternoon!

I'll try to post a small video of her later on...just maybe 30 seconds but still cute as a bug. Jaundice is still evident but decreasing and she is putting on weight. They've stopped trying to breastfeed and have started her on formula, she is tolerating it well and is pooping well, which is a relief.

Is it still off? Are you putting hot water bottles in the incubator? That is one of our biggest draw backs here in the sticks to incubate or brood babies....always having the power to go out. I'll be praying you have a good hatch, Lindz. I'm also praying for your health and that of your family. Have you all had the time to train Ratchet any or is that on the back burner until you are all well again?
Where is the Easter Hatchalong thread? I want to sign up! A kind BYCer gave me 6 Crested Cream Legbar eggs to hatchalong with.

Go to the hatching forum section and it will be a sticky at the top of that whole forum. Yay for hatching along! We'll be hatching buddies!!

I was going to say that but thought I would get slapped!

That's the same temps and weather we are getting here and I was thinking it was normal for the time of year...it rained all day yesterday, snowed last night and it's windy and 48* here today, though the sun is shining well at the present time.

Power is back on and the incubator is warming back up. Unfortunately we have no water or heat if the power goes out. That's going to have to be remedied. It went out at 7:30 and came back on at 11:30.
I am feeling better since all the gunk in my head and chest is breaking up. Thank goodness for moonshine! Lol
We have not started training Ratchet yet.I just have not felt up to it. I have just been keeping him in if the chickens are out. I hope to get started on that this week though.

I went to feed my chickens this morning and stopped by where my crazy dog is to do something. I turned around and she had her head in the feed bucket chowing down on ff. lol When I came back by she was eating grass and had a, "oh my gosh what is in my mouth!" look on her face. hahahaha

So glad you are feeling better!

And you need to put in a wood stove! Will save you money and will help you when power goes out. We have wood heat here and we also contract for bottle gas for our cook stove/range....we use so little gas with that we can barely have enough to get them to come back to top off the tank...but that gas stove helps when power goes out in the summer months and we need to cook/heat something.

Moonshine cure....still works!

Silly girls! I know it's not that bad here, and I'd be putting the chicks out in a blizzard at this point......it's the notion of being out there in a heavy rain/snow storm and freezing temps WORKING on the coop that I'm fretting over! LOL
