I would just make sure they have plenty of oyster shell available. One thing I noticed this winter is that even though my oyster shell dispenser was full of oyster shell, it had been rained on (it is out in their run) and then it got frozen for several days or a week or more. So there was plenty of oyster shell but they couldn't get any of it. Now, if it gets cold I make sure its not all frozen together.

How is he with your chickens? Years ago when I had Dobermans we never once had a problem with stray dogs/neighbor dogs running loose causing problems. I guess they just knew better than to come here. Lately there is a dang pack of neighbor dogs running loose! I guess I'm going to have to get another dog or dogs that will take care of them! I wish I had an Anatolian that would take real good care of them! LOL ...but I also have to worry about whether the dog will bite people too. That got a little tricky with the Dobermans. I need a chicken and people friendly but stray dog and predator agressive dog! I don't ask for much huh? LOL
