The Front Porch Swing

And they call you a nonworking mother or stay at home mom...funny, isn't it? When done properly, a stay at home mom works harder than any other gainfully employed person out there.
whoa, you been one busy women! Did I tell you we FINALLY got that arch up over the chickens run? with the tarp over it. Yep FINALLY. It's been nice to because it came a flood that night and the trough only had about a cup water in it hubby said. It held up in all that wind to which surprised me bcause we had stuff blown all over the yard.

Well folks, keep your fingers crossed for me. DH found a place for sale that sounds perfect for us. It seems like when we find something we think we will really like, someone else buys it before we even get a chance to look at it. On monday, I found a listing that sounded nice, so I sent him and our realtor an email to take a look at it. It had been on the market for 3 months, and the sellers accepted an offer that morning. that was at least the third time that happened to us. Unfortunately, he is busy this weekend and won't be able to look at it until Monday after work.
The listing is for the house, detached garage and barn on 10 acres, but says there is more land available - I looked it up, it is a 40 acre lot, in front of a 40 acre lot. The house is small and pretty old - it must be rundown pretty good because the listing states "being sold as is". No inside pictures either. But it is close to the highway and an acceptable drive to DH's work - about 20 miles. I have gotten DH around to my way of thinking - we can fix a house, we can't make more land. He is thinking to gut the house and remodel it, put on an addition and install a new septic. According to everything I see online, it has great soil for gardening, there is room for a small orchard, an area that would be perfect for a chicken coop and run and nice mature shadetrees in the yard.. Zoning is ag/rural residential, it has abandoned farm fields behind the house - classified as sandy loam. Really healthy vegetation in the photos, nice and dark green, so they haven't been farmed for a while..

sounds really nice and sure hoping it's still there for ya this time.

Well, my heart is broken. The sellers accepted an offer on the place this morning, signed the papers right before I called to set up an appointment to see the place.
I tried hard not to get my hopes up, but DH was so excited and kept talking about what we could do there that I got carried away.
Doesn't help that I am hormonal. Cried my butt off all the way home.

Well, life goes on. I need to trust that God has something better planned for me. Hope he remembers that I love to dig in the dirt, play with my dogs, ride around on my ATV and drive my tractor.
Please God, I don't want to live on a tiny lot, in a subdivision, surrounded by busy-bodies and controlled by stupid rules.
oh nooo I am so sorry! :( He must have something much better for you. Hang in there and you'll be glad you did because HE ALWAYS knows what's best. ALWAYS!

I am so sorry. My DH and I looked for 5 years before we found our dream place. We lived in a motorhome during that time period in downtown Houston--shudder....shudder...shudder... Don't give up your dream. You will find the place you want. Just don't give into living under restrictions!

My wife and I had dreamed of a log cabin in the mountains for 30 years, finally found our dream lived in it nine years and sold it, we now live back near family, each decade of life changes my heart and my understanding of what God's desire might be, I finally read the Bible cover to cover when I retired, Jesus and I are walking closer than ever but life is still not anywhere near "easy street", my wife is in Denver helping our son and grandkids through a terrible divorce while I am in Missouri helping our daughter and son-in-law after his second liver transplant.............................thanks again for your porch

Yep. It's "spring." My two male pekin ducks, which were supposed to be dinner ages ago but Dad liked having them around so they stayed, have started trying to team-mate the runner ducks.

Might be time to do a little re-staffing in the Duck Pond.
