The Front Porch Swing

Henny or Penny? in the nestbox...

The chickens were a little confused tonight..... about half of them went into the new coop, but I had to open the little coop up for the others, and then take them into the new coop.... Shew, I hope they figure it out tomorrow!

I think we need another roost..... Everyone fit.... barely! I had to put the stragglers up on the roost in the empty spaces. When they tried jumping up, they would knock someone else down! LOL... They should be good for tonight, and we will add another roost tomorrow when Hubby gets home!

I have one hen that seems to be having crop issues. Her crop looked like a balloon today. She always seems to be "busty", but she looked even bigger today. I am thinking that maybe she has a pendulous crop, and it is filling with air..... I feed FF, and use ACV occasionally.... I just have found UP/ACV in a local store..... I massaged her crop a few times today, and she seemed to burp, or at least I could smell the FF while I rubbed her crop from top to bottom. It would go down for awhile, and then seemed to fill back up. Any suggestions?

DH sent some pictures he took of the place. He took 3 pictures of the huge range that is in the kitchen - guess he was excited for me! Its an Arts & Crafts Bungalow and looks nice. It has 40 acres total, but we offered for 25 because that is all we can afford right now. We let the realtor know we would be interested in the rest of the 40 when our house here in WY sells.
There was another offer going to the seller tonight also. I guess we will wait and see.

Yes, it is in God's hands now.

Oooooooh, I hate it when somebody else bids on it. I don't care what time of the night it is, please keep us posted! I am hoping I hear you shrieks of joy!!!

I seem to remember somewhere amongst Bees threads a discussion about chicken vision... Some say No they cant see in the dark some Say Yes they can.... Well funnily enough someone had just sent me an excerpt of an article without any background.

I finally found an accredited article..... VERY interesting stuff, indeed. from a chicken Vet.

OK the actual article that someone sent me not an excerpt, it has no resource list but its an interesting read.

That is too cute! What a pretty bunch of birds! I sure hope the crop problem gets worked out soon for ya. Good luck with it.

Guys, I just got a message that some good friends of mine's grandson was just found dead. The boy was about 20 years old. PLEASE PRAY FOR THEM! I don't know what happened.

Will do!

On a better note, Wyodreamer, praying this is the place!

When we put an offer on this place, we hadn't seen it at all, just pictures. We trusted the realtor's answers to our questions. We knew there were outbuildings but there were no pictures of that at all. Just trusted God and my husband. I was pretty tense about the whole thing but he said "I believe this is the place God wants us." I didn't get to see it until the offer was accepted and that took a while and is another whole long story. Suffice it to say that God and my husband were right. It's not my dream home by any means but it is sufficient and there are outbuildings worth working with.

I love it when people live their lives according to God and trusts in what God wants for them instead of what they would want....He always has a purpose for all things.

This is my Lucy.

She is simply lovely!!! And doesn't look that old at all. Why are you selling her?

You could hold her upside down a little and massage the crop to see if she can regurgitate the contents. If she cannot, it will either go away or it won't, but I'd wait a few days to see if it will resolve.

I'm glad you are adding another roost!
