The Front Porch Swing

What a day. I went out driving with my SIL Clint to see a cousins new chicken set up. He did call and say we were coming. Very nice. Predator proof with lot of cattle panels and wiring. So I'm ready to go home and country boy Clint says " I want to show you my Aunt Linda's new room. So we drive over with no warning. I hate that. She however was thrilled that we came and show off new addition to house. So again I'm ready to go home. He wheels into another driveway (way out in the sticks) and said someone told him these people are selling their chickens and I might find something. So embarrassing. The man is barefooted at home relaxing and the wife comes out with wet hair. She could have killed us I'm sure. No they aren't selling their chickens. But I did find a really good coop he made and doesn't need. It's all cattle panels and wiring but made much better and easy to take apart and move. Predator proof. I'll just have to add something over the wired top. (not flat) I'm buying it for $150 and it's approx 10x15' A nice addition to my yard. The dog kennels that an old lady gave me is 7x12 so between the 2 I may have enough for a while. The new one has room to put roosts up to 7 ft Happy to have it. I'll get it in a few weeks.
I'm enough of a hermit that I don't like or appreciate strangers or even family coming without calling. My Mama would just sit people on the front porch instead of inviting them in. I'm not that bad but I want warning. (Don't want to get caught in my housedress.) Muu Muu my Gson calls it.
So I'm home. Brought fried chicken home (since I don't have any yet) and am parked for the evening. Yea!!!

I went on a cruise with a man once and I didn't regret going but sure could have used a better companion to enjoy it with...I spent most of the cruise avoiding him.

Would have been so much more fun with a group of girls!

CNA is a hard job and it takes a special heart to do it well...they get all the dirty work, none of the credit for all the work they do and they get the worst pay. They are the backbone of any nursing home and that back is an aching one. My oldest son is a CNA right now in a hospital and he's a good one....the good ones are like a pearl of great price to the patients and nursing staff. Give you daughter a hug for me, Blooie, because I'm so very proud of her...and you!

What a score!!! That's a great price for a coop that large..you can't even build one that cheaply for that size.

I'm with you...don't like surprises much and would prefer prior warning. My Aunt Nancy would make unexpected company sit out on the porch until she had cleaned the house to her satisfaction(she was a neat freak) and then...and only then..would they be allowed to come in.

Sometimes I just don't answer the door, especially if it's not someone I know...and even sometimes when it is!

That is a stunning pic!  Just beautiful!  And you get to look at that every evening?  Simply lovely.

Yes!  God is a master artist...I was just telling Him so this morning when it rained in the night and I awakened to the bluest sky possible...almost hurt to look at it.  The big full white moon is rising right now in a slate blue evening sky and it's beyond words beautiful...there aren't really any words that can describe the beauty and the wonderful time I had today just doing chores on and around the coop, basking in the 70+ weather, and also basking in the love of my Father, who answered my morning prayer today for strength and stamina to get something significant done today after feeling so bad yesterday....and I DID, with the Lord's help.  :celebrate

Girls, I didn't even start until after lunch and still got so much accomplished today!  I took away the winter wind blocks from the coop(tarp, hay bales, dog house), built my chick brooder on the coop floor, set up my heating pad brooder heater, built a nifty little chick trough from wood, emptied and stored all the heated buckets and bowls from winter and switched back to the regular communal waterer for all animals(placed it inside of an old tire to provide a step up for chickens and cat), removed winter padding from the roosts, straightened up the coop a good bit, leveled the dog house and placed bales on either side for keeping it cool in the summer, videoed the brooder build, took pics of the same, refreshed feed, stored feed, entertained family that came to visit and was here all day, got in wood, etc.

That was all the Lord because I could barely put one foot in front of the other yesterday for the pain and low energy.  Isn't He so wonderful????  I feel so great for having gotten all that done today!  :weee

Yes, Bee... I get to look at it each evening and the sunrises here behind the house in the morning can be quite stunning as well. This pic was taken one early morning last Fall right off my back door step...

The cows belong to the neighbour and it was so neat to see the sunrise with the silhouette of the cattle in the foreground :)

So glad you had such a wonderful days in The Lord ... He is wonderful !!

If I am not in the mood for company I don't answer the door either. And I never let someone I don't know come in my house either.

When I was still married to the ex and living in WV the tax assor showed up one day. He and his assistant got out of the car and started walking around the property taking measurements. I called the sheriff's department and asked what to do. They told me if I did not know who they were to ask them to leave.

When they started going around the house looking in windows the deputy told me to take my gun and confront them. They sheriff was sending someone out right away.

When the gentleman came up on the porch I stepped out the door with my shot gun leveled at him and told him to get off my property. I scared the crap out of him. He claimed he wanted to talk to my husband. I told him he would be home Saturday. He said he didn't work on Saturdays. I told him that was not my problem. He got in his car and left. To my knowledge he never came back.

No body in their right mind goes sneaking around a woman's house when she is home with four young children that she is defending .........

Wow!!! Big sky where you live! I used to have vistas where I live but now I'm on a ridge surrounded by woods and can't see the skyline very well, so I miss out on horizons now. I love that pic...you should be submitting these to magazines!
