The Front Porch Swing

Well, this should be interesting. Got home from Evan's first basketball game tonight and there was Ken, in the cold, windy darkness working on the chicken coop! He got the runners done and one wall framed. I thought he was gonna wait for his friend's help. Teach me to think!

Sounds like he is tired of chick dust in the house ...

We got it, but not as bad as you did, I think. Most of the snow just blew on through, but the interstate was closed half the day due to low visibility and black ice on the road.

I was home sick today, I'm coming down with some sort of crud - wanted to take it easy.

Seriously, if anyone here ever has a desire to eat real Mexican food, order from the link I posted. They actually ship tamales nationwide. Loads of people leave the Rio Grande Valley and want a taste of home, so they had to start shipping them. If I ever leave, I'll be ordering them often, haha!
I have never had a tamale. Honest.
I am from northern Wisconsin where hot is a temperature and spicy is too much black pepper out of the grinder.

We don't really have Mexican here, it is much more of a tex-mex I guess.

It's almost my bedtime - I spent most of the evening catching up on the latest news! Hard to keep up with all of you - but sooo entertaining!

I'm very excited because I'm going to be a Grandma! In Sept! This little one is a result of many prayers - My daughter had trouble getting pregnant. So we're very happy for them! So any advice from you experienced Grandmas would be appreciated :).

Bee, I'm so happy for you that spring is arriving for you! It gives me hope. We have a ways to go here yet, but if you get spring, then eventually we will too. By the way, how is your toe healing up? Still a lot of pain?

Good shot, Lisa! Only your 2nd time shooting a gun! Wow. Those huskies better stay home.

And that new house on the island looks wonderful. Just think of all the new plants you'll be able to grow out there! So exciting for you.

Better get to bed. The morning will be here before I know it.

:gig

Real tamales, unlike their candy counterpart, are normally not spicy. They can be, but the ones I eat are just seasoned really well.

I'm from Deep South Texas where hot and spicy are one in the same. We eat spicy food to cool down in the 115 degree summers. :D

Nearly the entire population around here is Mexican - born or only a generation or two born in the USA. That's why when I say I love Mexican food, I literally mean Mexican food. The chefs around here cooking in the restaurants were born and raised in Mexico and they brought all their recipes with them and haven't changed them. It's pretty brilliant.
