The Front Porch Swing

Quote: Fuji is known to make good lenses.... I have a Coolpix right now. I want a Canon again. and have been waiting for the DSLRs to come out at a price I can afford.

I wish I knew the types of hummers that come through here.... Coming up from Mexico or South America sometimes we see varieties that are only passing through.

I tend to keep every thing because even the blurry stuff can be artsy especially if it has color or contrast.... one of my best photos of my dad was him in profile and the Christmas lights in the back ground. He was in focus the tree was blurry.... The ONLY light came from the tree so he wound up in silhouette.

Even when I am working on a project I save every step as a separate file so often times the final result will have the number 10 or 20 preceeding it. Old habit from my designing days. To safe guard for Stoopid moments... No saving or software crashes.

Oh I know exactly what you mean. I have a picture of Katie in front of the Christmas tree that I absolutely love. The tree was one of those revolving ones, and it ended up with the lights looking like musical notes behind her. The ones that I delete are those that impossible to make anything out of....someday I'll get a computer program to let me edit my pictures too. But that's a long way off. I need to get some egg money tucked away first!

well I have a guinea pig that is dying. His body has been shutting down for nearly 48 hours, won't eat or drink. Never had death be so prolonged. This is not a good month for my animals. He won't move now, just makes this pathetic little moan every once in a while. I wish I knew how to put this little guy out of his misery. God, just please take the little guy. He needs to go. This is the saddest things ever. I am not sad he is going to be gone, but sad it is taking this long. Poor guy.

I'm so sorry. It's hard enough to lose a pet, but to see its misery prolonged seems so wrong.

By popular request: Warning - photo heavy! I plan to spend this hummer summer learning to use the new telephoto lens I got for Christmas so I don't have to get so close to photograph them.

You are an amazing artist. You will be writing and taking pictures for your book. (I want the first copy!!)

lovingmyhens, I am so sorry about your little guinea pig. I hope his passing comes quickly.

Oh PrairieChicks......I'm so excited for you. Congrats !!!!! There is nothing in the world like being a Grandma or Nana in my case. I have 6 beautifully ornery grandbabies. I wake up in the morning thinking and praying for them, spend my day thinking and praying for them, and go to bed at night thinking and praying for them. This little one will completely change your life and the way you see the world. Hope it will be living close by so you can really spoil it good. Keep us updated.

Welcome Beeps. We have a good time here on the porch. Bee is a very gracious hostess and there is always something yummy to eat and fresh tea or lemonade on the table so just help yourself.

Lindsey I may need you to come over to my house and help me out. Found a stray dog at my chicken pen yesterday and chased him off, but he was back again this morning. I shot behind him today to scare him off but this was his last warning. If he is back again tomorrow the shot will NOT be behind him.

Dumped dogs is a point of contention with me. I live several miles from the closes town which is a very small community. When giving driving directions to my house I jokingly tell people you go to the end of the world and take a left. Why is it that people think because you live way out in the country it's okay to dump their unwanted dogs and cats on you to take care of. If I wanted another dog I would go get one. It makes me sick to see these poor starving animals wandering though the country side looking for something to eat and my nice fat chickens makes the perfect meal. They bring diseases and parasites and most of them are so scared you can't catch them so the only recourse is to put them down. I am a animal lover and it makes me ill to have to be the one that steps up and end their suffering. Okay I'm done ranting.
Thanks for the good wishes, Luvblues7. Unfortunately Heidi and Justin live 12 hours west and north of us. But we will be going to see them at Easter. Can hardly wait! She is due the end of Sept, so we'll have to plan another trip before then - I want to see her "very pregnant"

. I'm thinking we'll be doing a lot more travelling in that direction from now on....

Beautiful pictures Blooie! We only get one kind of hummingbird here, but there are always some that raise a family on our yard and I love to sit and watch them at the feeders. They are amazing creatures - and not at all nice to each other! There have been times when we were sitting on our verandah watching the "teenagers" learn to fly and not sure if we should duck or not. Can hardly wait till I can put up the feeders again. I've always wondering how they can migrate such long distances with their fast metabolism. I can hardly wait for spring!!!

I'm so sorry, lovingmyhens. I hope he can go soon. It's hard watching a pet or person die. I'm praying for you.
