The Front Porch Swing

In 2002 Kenny and Jenny moved our here. They found a place right across the street. Katie was born in 2005. Tam moved here a few years later with 4 year old Evan and lives 2 blocks away. Then Kendra was born. So I have 3 of them here almost every single day, and I love it. I get to go to Katie's dance recitals, I'm at 3 physical therapy sessions a week with Kendra, we attend Evan's basketball games and scout activities and as many school functions as we can. My family, and Ken's family, only saw us once every year or so when Ken would get leave or if we could stop in for a few days while traveling to a new duty station. Our kids knew their grandparents - but barely. I am so blessed!!

Yes you sure are!!!!

You are one lucky Grandma!

And Bee - you are too!!!! You live close enough to get to see baby so soon after being born! My mom would have loved to be there, especially since all 4 of ours were born at home, but never got there in time (my labors are always quick).

Unfortunately, we live a 4h plane ride, and a 2h drive, from my parents, and DH's mother is too scared to drive across town, so really, we see my parents more than his mom! When they come, they stay for at least 10 days, in the house, and so it is a REAL family visit.

We are moving further away (a 6h plane ride, 45min drive), but I am optimistic because my father is retiring in April and there are some murmurs that they will sell and move out to where we are moving to! I am pretty excited about that possibility, not just because then they can be around the grandkids (their only grandkids), but because as they get older I can be around to help them too!
What a precious statement. So many grown children can be so self centered that they only think of what their parents can do for them. It is truly refreshing to see your concern for your parents. You, my dear, are a good daughter.

As a side thought....... I posted earlier this week that I was so excited that I would be getting turkeys today.....well they called and said they did NOT get any turkeys..... so there will be no turkeys for Carolyn today!

Forget the tea........ I need a Big Glup of DIET COKE. My mother passed away from an awful fight with Cancer when I was 16 and I am the baby of 4 children (all quite a bit older than me) so I was the only child left at home at the time of her death. Well my daddy was busy working so I pretty much did what I wanted after her death. At 16 this could have been bad but thank goodness I had already given my heart and soul to the Lord and the worst thing I did was start to drink ALOT of Coke. To make a really long story just somewhat long, I have extremely high blood pressure at one time as much as 210/180 and after 40 years of drinking nothing much but Diet Coke (about 2 liters a day or more) my doctor had the nerve to tell me if I wanted to see my grandchildren grow to be adults I had better STOP DRINKING DIET COKE! Other doctors had try to get me to stop but this one used the only thing that could possibly make me stop, GRANDCHILDREN ! So in December I went cold "turkey" (hehehe) and gave up my Diet Coke. Now I know that this can't compare to giving up drugs, cigarettes, or alcohol but let me tell you it was no piece of cake either. So just keep your tea and give me a big glass of Diet Coke and oh a big piece of CHOCOLATE cake wouldn't hurt anything either!
